We hired McDonald Contracting to remodel our kitchen. Overall it was a great experience. They were professional, communicated well, and were very responsive to our questions and requests. We have worked with other contractors on significant home projects and realize McDonald Contracting is reliable and a standout contractor.

I am extremely satisfied with the work McDonald Contracting did for me. They were one of only 3 (out of 8) businesses to either get back to me and/or offer a time frame of doing the work relatively quickly as opposed to waiting at least 6 months. They were also the most reasonably priced. It wasn't a big job - replace the bathroom ceiling which was damaged by a cracked pipe in the condo above me, repaint the walls & ceiling, buy & stain a new door, and install new flooring in the adjacent hallway. They communicated with me almost every day about who was coming and when to expect them and were responsive when minor problems arose. I would highly recommend them.

Eddie and his team at McDonald Contracting are so wonderful to work with! They have done a handful of projects for us, most notably our kitchen renovation, and we have been so happy with their work and professionalism. They did everything with our reno: removed a wall to open up our kitchen to the family room, added a beautiful custom island and dry bar area that we got to design, new lighting, counters and painting. They were even able to reuse our old cabinets seamlessly so we could save some money, and kept the house clean and organized throughout. I immediately felt comfortable with and trusted each worker - to the point where our dog even got excited when they showed up! Eddie is super attentive, responsive and just a pleasure to work with. He is honest and fair and dealt with my (many) last minute changes mid-project with complete patience and understanding. I recommend McDonald Contracting to anyone I know and will certainly have them do work for us again in the future!

Ed and his team were a pleasure to work with on our exterior project. They were extremely responsive, professional and committed to high quality work. Ed did a great job of really listening and working with us to plan the project in a way that accomplished what we were looking for at a reasonable cost. We'd be happy to work with him again and recommend him to others.

Ed and his team were wonderful throughout our entire basement finishing project. From his first visit to talk scope and budget, to the last punch list item, Ed was great. All the folks he worked with were courteous and professional and worked efficiently. The project was on budget and on time. Ed was easy to communicate with and responsive and had good ideas and suggestions. The basement looks awesome and we are very pleased. We would used McDonald Contracting again and highly recommend them.

Ed and James McDonald recently did our first floor and basement renovation. This included a new kitchen, a bath/laundry room, a full bath, new floors, new ceilings, lighting and painting. I can't say enough great things about them. They are honest, responsive and hard working. And all of the guys that work for them - carpenters, plumbers, painters, electricians, etc. - are all very nice, friendly, polite and trustworthy people. The quality of their work is very good. Even our kitchen designer, who sees a lot of contractor's work, was very impressed with their work. Ed and James were available on weekends for questions and small emergencies (re-connecting the washing machine for a quick load of laundry). We actually missed having them around once the project was over. We will definitely use them again for our 2nd floor baths.

We worked with Ed and his crew on multiple projects including a major addition. We were so impressed with the quality of their work and the dedication they have to their customers. Their goal was always to make sure we were happy and they were truly a pleasure to work with. They run their business with integrity and I know sometimes that can be a difficult quality to find in a contractor. The communication was excellent and we were sad to see them go when the projects were complete. I would highly recommend Ed and his team for any home project, big or small!

You can’t go wrong with McDonald Contracting! Ed and his team updated our kitchen, opened up a few walls and completely renovated our master bath. We are extremely happy with the work, interaction with the crew and fair pricing. If you get the opportunity to work with James, you will already be a step ahead! His constant communication was really helpful and appreciated.

Ed and James refinished our 800 sq ft basement. Removed existing drywall and carpet and installed all new drywall and a new bathroom with tile floor and shower. There were a couple of delays in the project but these were mainly caused by permits or supply chain issues, so not really within their control. They kept us up to date on timelines and communicated very well. One of their subcontractors made a mistake with the placing of the tile floor in the bathroom and they took full responsibility and fixed the work free of charge and with no hassle from us. They are very trustworthy and I would definitely use them again. The basement looks amazing and we are very pleased with the final product.

McDonald Contracting built a new porch for us. Its beautiful and the crew was really skilled and attentive to detail. Our Project manager was proactive and responded quickly to requests for changes and additional work. All the subcontractors were friendly and skilled. Really excellent job. On top of all of that Ed was great about sticking with us as we navigated a complicated process for figuring out a permit for this project on a non-conforming lot. This is our goto company for home renovations now!

We renovated both our bathrooms. Did a full gut of our upstairs main bathroom. Ed, Shawn and the McDonald Contracting did an awesome job. Shawn, our project manager, worked with us every step of the way. They went out of their way to keep us on budget. (This is the first renovation we ever came in close to our original contract number.) They were always responsive and did quality work. All workers were polite and worked around our schedule. The job did take a little longer than expected. But they were juggling other projects and they got started on our renovations almost immediately. Every other project I’ve worked on, there was always a big wait time in the beginning. But not here. I really can’t say enough about the final product. We couldn’t be happier. I highly recommend McDonald Contracting.

We had a very good experience with Ed, Shawn, and the McDonald Contracting crew. Our project involved finishing an un-insulated sunroom, removing two walls to make a larger open space, and renovating the kitchen. They did great work, kept the place clean, and maintained responsive lines of communication throughout. The workers were all very nice, respectful of our space, and Ed & Shawn were quick to take responsibility for any issues that cropped up (as some always do). The price was reasonable and amazingly the project came in on-budget, which *never* seems to happen. Would happily recommend them to others.

We definitely recommend Ed, Jamie, and their team. They rebuilt our 1920s era two-story front porch which spans the width of the house. (The work included replacing the giant block of concrete steps which had begun tipping back and collecting rain water as well as repointing/repairing the masonry several feet below grade.)

The work was high quality, on time, and importantly, there was steady, clear communication. Demolition, which always goes fast, was done by Halloween. By Thanksgiving, the porch was done and ready for visitors!

Especially seeing projects by other contractors in our neighborhood linger for months, we doubly appreciated their professionalism and reliability.

It’s been four months now and we’re still happy every time we use it.

We retained McDonald contracting for a significant kitchen renovation. They did an amazing job, had consistently high quality and reliable subcontractors, and the project was managed well.

As with many projects we had add ons and James, the project manager, accommodated our needs and managed the expanded project efficiently.

James and the whole team were responsive and helpful and thoughtful and creative.

Ed has worked a many projects for me over the past five years, no job is ever too big or too small. Everything is always completed promptly, professionally, and at a reasonable price.

We've used Ed McDonald for many tasks over the years. They now do our snow removal - very well. This last project was a new roof on our porch. All leaks are gone, we have a space to sit in the sun, and even with issues that cropped up they were able to complete it within their time frame. Thank you again Jared and crew!

We hired McDonald to replace 13 vinyl windows. Found them based on great reviews from several neighbors. The whole process quote to finish was very easy and professional. The work was done very well and they’re so responsive to questions. We had them back to fix a roof flashing that was improperly done by another contractor. And we already have several other projects we want to do. I also appreciate they will take on smaller jobs. Love supporting a great local business.

McDonald Contracting completed a 600 SF family room / master bedroom addition and kitchen renovation for us. Ed and his entire team were great to work with. We lived in the house during the construction and his entire crew were respectful of our family and our space. His project managers were great to work with and were always very honest and transparent about the schedule at the cost of the work. There were a couple of unforeseen costs which were a result of uncovering issues with our existing house. This is to be expected with an old house, and Ed worked with us to minimize the additional cost. We are extremely happy with the finished product and are enjoying our new space. I think what is most telling is that when we had some minor cracking in the drywall after a year (to be expected), we contacted Ed and although it wasn’t his issue, he got his crew back to our house to do the minor repairs right away. We have also hired his electricians – Brian & Kenny - to do some additional work for us. Ed and his team clearly stand behind their work and are interested in keeping their clients happy for the long haul.

We highly recommend McDonald Contracting. We used them to finish our basement and install a new bathroom and they are just fantastic to work with. Ed and Shawn are extremely professional and easy to communicate with. They do top-quality work, listened to our ideas and provided extremely valuable guidance and vital suggestions throughout the project. Found McDonald contracting after doing a bunch of research for reputable local contractors, and they absolutely lived up to their stellar reputation! Had them do a front door & storm door replacement job, plus replacing some support posts on our back deck.

What sets Ed and his team apart is how they stand behind their work. Ed is extremely responsive and made it top priority to make sure everything was squared away with expediency. And THAT is why Ed will always be my first call, for all of my future projects.
