I recently purchased two ACIQ extreme heat pumps and matching air handlers from this company, and if they meet their advertised performance standards, I'll be thrilled. The customer service has been decent so far, with tech assistance being okay too. The one major issue I've encountered is the poor documentation provided with the units. Some of the information is unclear, and it's required me to call customer service multiple times to clarify various points. Thankfully, the team at HVAC Direct handled these calls professionally, but they seemed a bit short on knowledge regarding air filter requirements. Specifically, my two air handlers lack a backside lip to support the filter, and the installation manual doesn't provide any guidance on selecting the right size filter. The tech support couldn't find this information either, which led me to suggest a simple modification: adding a small 1/2"x 1/2" lip at the rear of each air handler to better seal the filter in place. Fortunately, the ACIQ-48-AHB and ACIQ-48-HPB units I purchased have performed beautifully so far. We're extremely pleased with the comfort level, noise reduction, and features of the system. Installation was straightforward, direct, and flawless – as long as you follow the directions and have basic mechanical competence. The equipment fired up smoothly, did what it was supposed to do, and provides a new level of comfort that's been a game-changer for us (we haven't used the heat function yet, being in NC in May). The ACIQ Customer Service has always been responsive, with Amanda providing helpful information on my recent calls. However, I did experience a brief glitch where a tech was disconnected and never followed up – but this was an isolated incident. Overall, it seems like these units will be great if they meet their performance claims, and the customer service team is doing a good job overall.

I've had issues with four out of six units installed by this company over the past year. The waiting period for repairs has been lengthy, often taking over two months before a solution was found. The latest issue is that I'm still waiting to be contacted regarding a "hire-up" unit that developed problems shortly after installation. This unit had a faulty liquid line that ruptured right before the TXV, with no pressure switch installed. To rectify this, I had to pay for repairs out of pocket. Initially, the problem was apparent when the unit wouldn't run or produce sound, and upon inspecting it, I found 1 lb 3 oz of moisture in a 5-ton unit - an unacceptable condition. I'm now on an indefinite wait to receive a call back about some "brand-specific" flare nuts that can only be obtained from specialized suppliers. The lack of communication is frustrating, especially considering the potential consequences for units already installed in the field. I would advise sticking with local supply houses to avoid these issues; it's simply not worth the hassle and risk.
