John traveled all the way to Rockwall to give us a free estimate on some plumbing repairs we needed. His estimate was cheap and the service was great. We would highly recommend him!

It was after the Texas snow storm. As you know lot of Texans were having issues and plumbing issues were on the top of the list. I wasn't an exception.
The snow storm was over and all seemed to be well. But after 4 days as things stated to return to normal, I spotted a leak on the side of the foundation in the location where the outside hose bib was located. Thankfully the situation wasn't desperate as the leak was small. But it was troubling enough I had to find a fix.
Initially I went through my warranty company. They sent a plumber who looked at the issue and told me that the leak was with a broken pipe under the foundation, offered no proof of that whatsoever, but quoted me several thousands of dollars to fix the issue. This sent me shock waves and shattered my peace of mind. It sounded like a big rip off and I was questioning myself if I should believe these people.
Fortunately I had time on my side (as the leak was small) and I started contacting other plumbers in the DFW with the hope I could have one to come out and take a look at the issue and provide a second opinion for a quote or a fix.
Among the several plumbers whom I contacted only a couple responded (as all plumbers were too busy due to the work following the snow storm) and John Hulse was one of them.
After looking at the pics I had sent him and using his best judgement on the issue he gave me a ballpark quote of $289 to fix the issue. I asked for his availability and he was available to come the next day at 10 a.m. It was a big relief for me.
John showed up exactly at 10 a.m. the next day. He got to work immediately. He first fixed the hose bib by replacing it and seeing if that would fix the issue. As it didn't he wanted to see if the leak would be from the pipe connected to the hose bib. He cut the drywall from the garage side and also removed a small piece of concrete to access the bottom of the pipe. Woohoo!!! - he located the leak at the bottom of the connection. He then fixed it, insulated the pipe. For all the work he charged $325.
I could confirm that this fix worked as the leak was stopped and the water started drying off around the foundation. It completely dried off in a couple of days. What a big relief that was.
I was lucky enough that the leak wasn't under the foundation. But I was also lucky to have John come and look at the issue because he was dependable, honest, straightforward and did his best to find the root cause of the leak and then did the fix.
Bottomline John was no nonsense guy, patient, easy to work with and left no stone unturned in his work to fix the issue. He was honest and told that if it is a leak under the slab it is out of his scope of work and I will have to engage someone else who does that kind of work. Yes, that honesty is very critical to work with any technician or business.
I don't want another plumbing issue. But if it happens I would definitely engage John to do the work. -
I have had John's expertise repair a water heater and when it finally died due to the nature of our water here, he installed a new one. His attention to details and safety/codes was outstanding.

We have used John Hulse for our plumbing issues big and small. He has always been excellent. If you are in his service area, I highly recommend.

John was quick to call back and presented a few options instead of just 'replace everything'. We replace two water heaters, an outdoor hose faucets and fixed the other items that could be fixed. They showed up on time and completed everything as intended. Pricing was competitive and transparent.

John came out right away and his work was top quality. He was upfront with his pricing and got the work done fast. We enjoyed working with a local plumber and would recommend John to anyone else.

Called John after seeing some recommendations on the local home owners site. Made an appointment for the next morning. John showed up on time and got everything taken care of quickly. He even noticed another small issue while under the kitchen sink and took care of it also. He replaced the 2 "push on" water shutoff valves and the supply lines under my sink and I have had no issues. I went ahead and had him give me a quote for some additional work in the house and it seemed very reasonable, I will definitely call him again for any plumbing issues.

John has done several jobs for us over the years at our house and also has helped out with work for my extended family. He is professional, he does great work and his prices are reasonable. Would definitely recommend him for any of your plumbing needs!

Professional. Clean. Prompt. Personable.
I called John and got a quick same day response. He gave me two options on my Bradford White MI5036FBN water heater. Repair or replace. I had done my homework so I knew what prices to expect. John’s quote came in slightly lower than average.
I decided to replace the almost new looking water heater that in reality was 10 years old with a new one. The next morning early John arrived early with an assistant and hauled the water heater up into the attic after he had put down protection for the carpet.
When he went to turn off the water at the mains on the roadside he discovered a major leak which he promptly repaired at a reasonable price.
He set the water heater to A for warm and left the home looking as good as it had before he and his assistant has entered the home.
I have no hesitation in recommending John. As a Realtor I have had to deal with quite a few plumbers. ENOUGH SAID.
I would like to thank John for showing respect for my home and taking care with his installation.

Hot water heaters x 3, cracked pipe under the foundation, leaky outside water spouts, now a hot water recirculating pump are all things I have hired John to do over the past 10 years. They were all done quickly and done correctly and at a reasonable price. I usually only write reviews for services I am not happy with but John has earned a 5 star review.

John replaced my water heater a few years ago, and I was so impressed that he's now my go-to plumber. He recently replaced a pressure release valve, as well as helping me with an issue on my washing machine.
John charges fair prices, and more importantly does things right. He shows up when he says he will, and is a pleasure to work with. Also he handled all of the city permit stuff (something I've had to do myself with other contractors). -
Cancelled job the night before. said it was not worth his time. Left me hanging. Hope you have better success!
