This was a wonderful experience. There was terrific creativity in design and yet we could provide input that was incorporated to make it our own. We had a particularly challenging water issue and the skill, knowledge and professionalism used to deal with it was remarkable. In addition there was transparency as to what was going to be needed and the timeline this would take. We would use this company again in a heartbeat.

We've been using Joe and his team's support to clear our driveway after snowstorms. They always do a nice job, and we appreciate not having to shovel our slippery inclined driveway

Lanscape Architecture did an excellent job designing and installing a walkway from my driveway to our backyard. Our guests no longer need to use the light from their phones to navigate a muddy, slanted path. Now we have a lit flagstone walkway that is easy to navigate.

We had a walkway put in along our side yard. This required some regrading, seeding part of the lawn, and programmable lighting. At one point the grading needed a little tweaking and they took care of it right away. It looks lovely, they were quick, and Joe was very responsive to our questions.

My wife and I are very happy with the process in updating and repairing our stone patio area. Joe is easy to work with and a straight shooter. He and his team also adjusted to unforeseen circumstances to our satisfaction.

Joe took our input and created a landscape design that is as beautiful as it is functional.
The crews were friendly and professional showed an attention to detail that was a pleasure to watch.

The final project exceeded all expectations and has created a whole new living space in our backyard. We would highly recommend using Landscape Architecture, LLC on your next landscape project.

I was trapped in my house 2 days during the 1st big storm of 2024. I saw their truck in my neighborhood so I asked to see if they could help me out. Zac had me call Joe, the crew arrived to clear me out less than 10 minute later! They were truly my Knight (s) in Shining Armor. In the aftermath of a snow storm like that, they went above and beyond to help me out. Rare in today's world, they are the best snow removal companies I have ever encountered. Thank You Joe and your amazing crew!!

Joe and his crew are exceptional. They answered all questions and were very open to our own design ideas. They were quick to rectify any issues with the build while and when they were done. They replace broken pavers, secured a loose step, and they are even replacing a failed landscaping light after five years! I can't recommend them enough!

I am an avid gardener and had a very clear vision for what I wanted for hardscape around a new screen porch that had not been built when we first met with Joe. He was very patient and allowed the ideas to develop and grow. Joe also designed a plan to solve water issues in our back yard. Given the constraints of space and existing fixed grades, we feel the solutions Joe presented are elegant and actually solve our problems.

Joe’s crew came and installed drains and hardscape, and regraded this summer. It looks fabulous and we couldn’t be more happy with the results. The crew was pleasant to work with and willing to hear my input and helped create my vision. We have had a lot of landscape work done over the years. Joe and his crew are the only people I’d have back.

Landscape Architecture created a design that brought safety, balance, and elegance to the front of our house. This included stone terracing and retaining walls, new grading, plantings and grass seed, new concrete steps and driveway—a considerable project. It now looks like it always should have—the highest compliment we can think of. It was a total pleasure to work with owner Joe Hanauer at every stage of the project. Meetings were productive. Joe listened to our requests and matched our aesthetic, responded quickly to all questions and any concerns, had great design ideas and creative solutions. The Landscape Architecture crew that carried out the work was top-notch. They worked hard and their range and level of skill was impressive. (Neighbors commented on this almost every day while the crew was at work!) I highly recommend Landscape Architecture. We are so glad they were referred to us.

We highly recommend Joe Hanauer and his firm, Landscape Architecture, for hardscape landscape projects. We had met with a half dozen other firms regarding replacement of a deteriorated, timber-lined hillside path to the lakefront. There were significant challenges due to slope, established trees, and limited site access. We also wanted the new path to be integrated and consistent with the existing landscape.
At our initial meeting with Joe, we were impressed by his enthusiasm, creativity, and attention to details. We worked with him for about six months to refine the design, address permitting issues and select materials. Joe was always responsive to requests, offered constructive recommendations and enhanced the project design. Beyond replacing the path, we added a patio and seating area.
The project took four weeks to complete in the fall of 2023. Joe’s crew was exemplary – they were talented craftsmen – expert hardscape installers who worked hard all day and were mindful of neighbors’ concerns – which were very few. The project was completed on time and on budget.

I was initially impressed with the knowledge of Joe, however, over 3 months has passed since his visit to my property. I never received an estimate and he has not responded to an email or phone call. Landscape Architecture will be a waste of your time.

I don't leave reviews, but this time I think one is needed for others to be informed. Joe and his team act professionally, but the services provided were subpar and the results have been poor. My front yard needed to be regraded, reseeded, and we had two prairie beds put in. Months passed between the time Joe said he would kill off the original yard and regrade. We had low mow grass put in. But because the previous grass and other material wasn't killed off properly, we're dealing with aggressive quack grass—the only option is to start over again.
