I called Andy to install a Google Nest. I told him a friend had offered to do it, but when he realized he would have to pull a wire, he said it would be best to call an electrician. And he drove out to take a look and give me a quote. He quoted me $200 and told me I would need to get a Nest Power Connector. That he would be out once the connector arrived. He arrived as promised, installed the connector and the Nest, but when he tested the Nest but, we were only getting cold air. He tried a variety things to no avail, still getting only cold air. He worked for quite a while and told me he would have to come back the next day. I asked him how much extra it would cost and he said that because he had quoted the price, he was not going to change it. I told him I would pay him an extra hundred dollars. Again, he came back and looked on it and was still unable to get both heat and cool air. He decided to run an external wire. I live in a condo which meant he ran the wire from the air conditioner across the roof of the other units through the external bathroom door, down my stairs, and across my living room wall to the Nest. And Presto, it worked! He said he’d be back Wednesday afternoon and pull the wire and all would be good. He asked if I would pay him half of what I owed him and I did.

He texted me Wednesday morning and asked if he could switch it to Saturday. I was going to be away all day Saturday I let Andy know that I would be home Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday afternoon, or the following Saturday. And I never heard back from him. Very disappointing. I agree with what the others have said, Andy was personable and worked hard to solve the problem. I just don’t understand why he didn’t either ask me for more money to come back out and pull the wire or give me the option for him to install the previous thermostat (that worked just fine), or negotiate more money. The fact is that he left me high and dry with an external wire that is not allowed by my HOA. I would rather he had installed the old thermostat and left. Or if he had ask for more money I probably would given it to him. He just needed to communicate with me! The fact that he never replied to my text or phone call is extremely unprofessional and rude.
