I hired this company to install an updated gas line the week before Thanksgiving. After getting a couple of bids, we decided to go with New Act Construction/Meni when he seemed knowledgable enough to put in a pipe. He brought 4 different people (teenagers) over three days to drill the dirt for the pipe. Mani constantly left and the men worked unsupervised. He claimed he was getting parts but he'd be gone for hours without calling or texting to check in. If I asked questions, he would get annoyed if he had to answer. I took it upon myself to check on the workers. The third day, when two of the workers, one with a jackhammer, I went out and saw that a pipe had burst and water was filling everywhere. They had no idea how to fix it and were trying to suck water through a hose (????) Mani showed up an hour later and claimed that it was an old pipe. I wasn't sure but Mani became very emotional and started yelling at any questions asked about what he was doing, or how he was doing it from this day on. The workers were even looking at him surprised he was talking to clients like this. The burst pipe was sealed but not fixed and the took two extra days. As he was finishing, Mani tried to say he could put in the pool heater. I had already picked the unit and we were exhausted and wanted to just get this done so Mani put me on speakerphone with two companies so I could hear the pricing. We agreed on one company and price that had the unit we needed. I supplied the money for the heater and small extra deposit. All he had to do was pick it up and install. The next day, Mani didn't show up or call for hours. When I called, he claimed the heater was over twice what was originally quoted. When I pointed out I'd heard all the conversations, Mani yelled at me through the phone and said he wanted to cancel me because it was too difficult for him. I agreed that he'd return the money we'd given him and he'd close up and be done. I thought this was finished but still Mani took hours to show up, his men didn't show up. We got a recommendation for a new pool company to come over and talk to us about the heater. Mani showed up late in the afternoon, and I sat down with him and attempted to close out everything. Instead of electronically doing this as he had easily done earlier, he was having "trouble" to cancel the job and instead kept talking other things. I said thank you for the job he did, and now you can get your tools and go. He agreed to return the $3,000 we'd given him for the pool heater. When we walked around to the backyard seconds later, the pool guy and myself asked where the old pipe that burst was and what happened so we could fix it right. Mani suddenly started yelling at the other contractor, and then me, my family and more importantly refused to return the $3,000 we'd paid him for a job he was no longer doing. Mani went from whining that he was fired, to getting jealous that the other guy was there, to threatening me that he wouldn't return my money if I wrote him a bad review to another site. It was like Jekyl and Hyde. I spent hours trying to keep him calm. The whole time Meni came up with a new amounts of money that was owed or that he claimed I agreed to pay him. He also suddenly couldn't return the money electronically period. It changed every few minutes. It was dark when I was still just trying to get him to fill the dirt in the final spot and go. He was trying to come back the next day (Thanksgiving) and finish up. This was the strangest behavior in a contractor I have ever seen ever. I was becoming fearful for my wellbeing. He was sweating, pacing and trying to intimidate me. I almost called the police. Once the other contractor came to work we found out the following things: 1. Mani installed the wrong size pipe. 2. He placed the top of the gas pipe in the wrong place. 3. They didn't clean up and left my brick walkway broken. 4. Mani has officially refused to return the total owed back.

    I don't recommend this company.

Roots took over my pipes under my front yard and I was starting to have plumbing problems I called over Meni and when he showed me the problem he also explained that the plumbers that installed the pipes installed them poorly and used extra material to make it look like a bigger deal than it was. Meni completed the job within a couple days and I'm so glad I chose New act Plumbing.

I replaced my water heater with New Act plumbing. Very dishonest, unprofessional, and unresponsive. Will not use him again as he says one thing over the phone and does something else on the job site. DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM for your projects, look for someone who is honest and does what he promises!
