Horrible costumer service, tried about three times to switch over to this company and I keep getting the run around saying someone will call me back! Well that's that they lost my business as a new costumer.

Had a great experience with them this morning. No problem too small for them to help with. My situation was so minor, they could have turned me away, but didn't!

I called Imperial Oil yesterday as a potential company to deliver oil in Colchester, CT. The woman who answered asked multiple times where I lived and on the third time told me she hadn't heard of Colchester and that they do not serve this town. Meanwhile, their website has it listed has one of the towns they serve. This company lost my business due to the ineptitude of their employees and potential misinformation on their website. Disappointing, since their other reviews are so good.
Update: I updated the review to 3-stars following the response from the company. However, if the employee had trouble hearing me then it would have been helpful for her to tell me this so I could call back from a different number. Although the review response was helpful, better phone communication with future customers is warranted. -
Recently had a gas fireplace replaced and called up Mike. He was very thorough, explained all the different options and transparent with pricing. The gentleman that came to install the fireplace was on time, very polite, and most importantly quick and skilled.
Highly recommend and will be doing more business with them in the future. -

TL:DR: Contact "Advanced Plumbing & Heating, Inc." out of Newington, CT instead. If Imperial screws up they will not even attempt to help out a customer.
We purchased our newly built house in December 2013. On November 15, 2014 I noticed there was water leaking from the gate valve located directly above the hot water heater. The water had pooled on top of the water heater and began rusting various parts of the unit, including the water supply connection which is built into the unit. I contacted the home builder via email, who contacted Imperial, who sent a technician out to fix the issue. The technician came the next day and simply tightened the leaking gate valve, called it fixed and left. The technician had not completely resolved the issue because the only way to fix it was to completely replace the water heater because the corrosion process had already begun and in a few years the rust would completely eat through the water inlet connection and cause complete failure. Not to mention, a few months later the gate valve continued leaking.
Fast forward to August 18, 2017, I went to take a shower in the morning and there was no hot water. When I went downstairs I noticed the water heater had finally rusted through and a lot of water was on the floor, so I immediately turned off the water supply to the unit to stop the leak. I contacted the builder that day to ask what action I should take but was informed the owner of the company would not be available for at least a week. At this time my wife was 2 weeks away from giving birth so I contacted another local plumber, Advanced Plumbing and Heating in Newington, CT, who came out the next business day and replaced the unit. They also helped me out by managing to claim the failure under warranty. Only the cost of the unit was covered of course, but the labor was not. I emailed the builder notifying him of what had occurred. I recapped the entire issue from the time I noticed the leak in 2014 to when the unit finally failed. I forwarded the bill for the labor and asked if they could get the plumber to cover the cost. After many emails and pictures between myself, the builder, and the owner of Imperial, the plumber denied to take responsibility by stating the labor is only covered for up to 1 year. This is not a valid reason because I initially brought the issue to their attention in November 2014, which was under a year, and they failed to completely resolve the issue at that time. The plumber also states that because the unit was replaced under warranty that it must be an issue with the unit from the factory. This is not the case because the issue is only due to a faulty gate valve above the water heater which leaked and caused the heater to eventually rust through and fail. The builder in this case has simply been the middle man and has been as helpful as possible, they have even gone above and beyond and offered to cover roughly half the cost of labor which should be the responsibility of Imperial, not the builder.
UPDATE 4/1/2021: I'm getting sprinklers installed and Imperial Plumbing is the contractor the irrigation company uses. The system comes with a 5 year warranty so I decided not to make a fuss. Before the tech started installing the plumbing, I notified him of the past issue with Imperial and showed him the faulty gate valve which is still leaking and slightly rusting that same inlet connection on the water heater, albeit significantly less ever since the packing nut was tightened. The technician said, "That doesn't sound like our company... If you want me to fix that I'll have to come out another time for it." The tech also installed the shut off valve in the middle of the basement meaning when I finish the basement I'll have to move it so it's still accessible.
There's very little value in judging a company by how many instances they handle service without issue. Judge a company by their attention to detail and how they handle customer service issues/adversity, and Imperial Plumbing has failed in every measure. -
My husband and I were going through the process of purchasing a home that we know had plumbing issues. We wanted to get an plumbers opinion/inspection on the house and wanted to get estimates on the work that needed to get done. We had a very short amount of time to get this and all the paperwork that went with it ready before purchasing. We worked with Michael Sanzo, who was very thorough and answered all our questions promptly. He was able to find time that accomodated my realtor and I at the house to come out and give us an inspection. He was quick to get back to me and answer any of our questions. He completed paperwork within a few hours and made the buying process of a home with plumbing issues that much less troublesome. Well worth it to give them a call!
