Blackstone repaved my driveway today and I could not be more pleased with the results. The crew did an outstanding job from start to finish, they were professional, efficient, detail-oriented, and the final results speak for themselves.

It's a night and day difference between the original (25 year old) cracked mess of a driveway. They left the whole work area clean and tidy when the job was done to boot. I highly recommend David and the crew at Blackstone if you're looking for a quality job that delivers exactly what they promise, on time, and on-budget!

Blackstone Asphalt paved my driveway on April 26, 2026. The owner, David, was professional, and although his pricing was a little higher than the other contractor, he matched the competing proposal, which I appreciated.

The crew consisted of approximately 6-7 in total and worked very hard and continuously throughout the day on the 2,500 sq ft driveway. They arrived around 9am and, to my understanding, completed the work around 4:30pm—I was not there the entire time. The driveway surface appeared smooth at the completion of the project.

Vehicles were kept off the driveway for six full days after paving.

I previously worked as an architectural designer, so I have a good understanding of construction practices. In general, quality and long‑term durability of an asphalt driveway depends on four main factors:

1) A well‑built and properly compacted base

2) Adequate asphalt thickness (typically a minimum of 2” inches after rolling and compaction)

3) Proper temperatures during installation, with asphalt laid at approximately 250 and compacted no lower than 185 degrees

4) Thorough rolling and compaction, ideally using a roller weighing 3 tons or more

The driveway was expected to receive approximately 3” of asphalt, although it was not clearly specified whether that measurement was before or after rolling and compaction, and I was not present for the entire duration of the project…my only observation is that the roller roller they used appear to be on the lighter side.

Three days ago (5/9) I inspected the driveway and took the enclosed photos which show some scuffing, small amount of loose surface aggregate, and a few tire marks. Although I wish this did not happen, I know that these conditions are not unusual for newly paved asphalt, particularly because asphalt can take up to one year to fully cure…these should blend and dissaper once the asphalt cure.

At this stage, the overall appearance and workmanship seem good. In terms of durability, time will be the true test, as quality issues typically become evident several years after installation. A properly constructed asphalt driveway have a lifespan of 20 or more years. For now, I am satisfied with the work and hopeful that the driveway will perform well over the long term, which will lead me to use Blackstone for future projects.

So, my experience with Blackstone Asphalt has been positive, and I appreciate the effort and work ethic demonstrated by David and his crew.
