My old tree pit was much too small and the tree roots had heaved up the bluestone around it. I got several estimates, all higher, some even offering to do the work without a permit. NYC Tree Pit is the best! Reasonable price, all done legally because it is a Landmark area, and they even helped to arrange a partial city refund - none of the others even mentioned that possibility. And my new tree pit is beautiful!

I wouldn't recommend this service. I've called about 10x and left several messages with no reply. I'm not even sure if they're in business at this point.

It was a pleasure to work with Karen and the New York Tree Pit team. They walked us through every step of the process and responded both thoughtfully and in a timely manner to our many logistical and design questions. Our end result looks great and we are glad to finally have some curb appeal!

Karen did a beautiful job cleaning the rocks in my backyard and trimming rotten growth on a tree. In addition she very artistically trimmed ivy and leaves from fences surrounding my house and also above the back door. Definitely will have her back. We also discussed seasonal maintenance, planting and enclosing a tree in the front of my house. I found her on Yelp and am very happy that I did.

I hired NYCTPS to renovate my tree pits. I originally had brick tree pits but they were smashed by careless drivers parking and had become overgrown from a year of neglect.

Karen was a total pro from the very beginning, answering my email inquiry quickly and taking everything I said into consideration for the final plan. They apply for the permits for you, install the tree guards, and they even replaced the terrible topsoil (well, rubble) I had from some company dumping their concrete debris years ago. It was one-stop-shopping, and all for a very reasonable price.

Another plus was that I didn't have to wait a month like I thought I would have to. Maybe it was because the city is slowly reopening, but I think everything was around two weeks if that. The work itself was done in only two days; one day for demolition the other for tree guard installation and planting. It was all very smooth and hassle-free.

I was very happy with the neat guard work and the cute shrubbery that will grow and fill in the entire pit to keep dogs out. A truly easy-peasy experience.

Not impressed. No response to a message and uploaded images of four NYC tree pits with a request for a quote to arrange winter seasonal plantings/arrangement. When I called, I was told that the request couldn't be accommodated, that the company's services were booked way into January and that the tree pit service had essentially "closed down" for the year. This lack of interest/responsiveness contrasts with two other serious vendors that were able to provide a competitive quote and undertake the work within a week.

Our experience with Karen and her NYC Tree Pit crew was extremely good and made the whole process of improving our tree pits and sidewalks as easy as possible. Every step of the way from permits to installation of tree guards went very smoothly. They are experts. Karen was very responsive to our questions and requests. All of the work was done in a timely manner. All of the possible details of the job such as dealing with pedestrians from a nearby school to dealing with parked cars around the time that the work was to be done was handled very well. Additionally, Karen understood the differences of opinions that arise when working with a coop building, as our building is, and she was flexible in how to accommodate them. We highly recommend NYC Tree Pit Services.

It was a frustrating process until "bingo" - someone gave us the NY Tree Pit Services flyer.

Karen explained the pros and cons of HDPE fences vs. steel and answered all our questions. Her estimates came quickly after receiving our measurements and as soon as we agreed to the price she visited our tree pits to check for any potential problems.

We had beautiful new fences in about two weeks, start to finish. She secured the necessary NYC permits, took care of all necessary details and did a final check after the installation. She also added soil and explained the structure and maintenance of the fences to us.

FYI, we chose HDPE over steel: it's half the price, it's made from recycled plastic so is super environmentally friendly; it looks terrific; and it doesn't rust, chip, fade or require repainting.
