Dan is a pleasure to work with! He's generous with his knowledge of horticulture, and works hard to provide as much value as possible for his services. He's advised me multiple times on planting options for my previous and current home, and has moved several medium sized trees for me. I will definitely use him again in the future for my landscaping needs.

Daniel and the team at Eco Backyards came to my rescue when I had to design, plant and mulch a yard from a new build. I had little experience with gardening and no knowledge native plants. Daniel patiently guided me through the design and plant selection process. When the time came, Daniel brought a team from Eco Backyards to install plants, work with hard scape and mulch. Three days later the property was transformed into a new garden. He and his team were professional, knowledgeable, fun and easy to work with. I would definitely work with the team again and I would not hesitate to recommend them for any project.

We worked with owner and partner for over a year and expected a plan, estimate and follow-through. When it didn't happen, we decided they bailed on us and that is extremely unprofessional.

So knowledgable on plants and care. I feel Dan did it the right way...being careful not to harm the existing trees and plants. Actually, he took the time to do more than contracted for. Definitely got my moneys worth!

EcoBackyards was a joy to work with. They helped me create an eco-friendly yard that is beneficial to wildlife while also creating beautiful garden landscapes. I highly recommend!

Dan and EcoBackyards are incredibly knowledgeable, well-informed about native plants, and how to create a backyard (and front yard) paradise of great biodiversity and hope for the planet, all while bringing our yards alive with butterflies, snakes, birds, frogs, salamanders, and other native wildlife

Daniel helped with naturalizing our large planting strip with mostly native plants. We already have caterpillars on our milkweed! Daniel is very knowledgeable and helpful; we couldn't be more pleased.

Dan had great ideas for me to add native plants, shrubs and trees to my lawn. He worked with me to develop a plan that fit me and my yard. It was all done well, his workers were great. Several neighbors have since stopped by after hearing about what I had done. It made my yard a very special place.

One of the best and most rewarding decisions I've made was hiring this company to work in my yard. I wanted to eliminate a large amount of my grass and replace it with a lot of native plants for pollinators and other wildlife. Dan and his team are so lovely and professional, and I am so pleased with the beautiful job they did.

Daniel and his crew designed and installed a lovely river stone area to direct water in my front yard. I will definitely call on them for future landscaping projects. Eco Backyards is dedicated to the environment and has an aesthetic vision.

Eco Backyards is a business that aligns with my values. Phase one is complete of my plan to reintroduce native plants into my suburban landscape. I can't wait to see what it looks like next summer when the plants are fully established and blooming! Daniel was easy to work with and incorporated my desires into the landscape design plan.

I had a great consultation with Daniel. I’ve been planning and researching to have an eco friendly backyard full of natives and food, and deal with some drainage challenges. Daniel was excellent in helping me complete my plan, shared a lot of great info about my property that I didn’t know, and helped adapt my plan. It’s clear he truly loves this stuff! Great wealth of knowledge. I highly recommend EcoBackyards.

Hello, Daniel planted 2 trees on our front yard. Before doing it he gave a few good advices. Trees were planted beautifully and we discussed how to care about them in the future. All work was done professionally, in time as scheduled. Highly recommended!

I did patio pavers and wall. We had to find safe plants for dog(new puppy). Loves to put everything in his mouth. So Daniel moved plants then back to replant them and add in an attractive setting more plants in the yard and outside fence.
He let me know if running late. When the tree un safe for dogs-was returned. Hepicked up and went with me to purchase one he felt right for the location. Mulch that is good for soil improvement. In the Spring the yard should bloom with color until fall!
I say thank you to Daniel and his fine help.
Pleasant people to have around the house.
Next Spring—back to see what can be added that we may have missed. Happy client! -
Daniel was super helpful in conducting a census of the plant life on my property so that I may continue my goal of having more NATIVE and less invasive species, all the while focusing on reasonable changes that support wildlife. It is clear he has passion about the same and shared some terrific ideas! He used fallen cedar trees in my yard to build up a staircase on my slope to help with my erosion issue, worked with an arborist to convert a huge pine tree into a snag cavity for birds and install a barred owl box, and put down some special mulch that really seemed to help take my blooms to the next level this season. I was quite pleased with all the work and will definitely be using him again!

Our experience with EcoBackyards was awesome from start to finish. On meeting the owner, Daniel, we were immediately impressed by his passion for his work as well as his ability to listen to our needs and then share his insights and knowledge based on his extensive experience in order to ensure our project was a success. Subsequent meetings were equally productive including budget/scope discussions and all other aspects of our landscape expansion. Our project included expanding beds in our front yard, including digging trenches to better divert rainfall, amended soil, mulch and native plants. Additionally we expanded a bed in the backyard as well as creating a new one, including the installation of a rain garden to receive the rainfall which previously had turned the area into a mud pit and planting a multitude of new native perennials and shrubs.
Daniel and his team- big shout outs to Will, Daniel and Justin - were hard working, courteous and clearly love what they do. They each brought different strengths to our project and enthusiastically shared their knowledge at every stage of the work. They were unfailingly pleasant and courteous and would immediately stop what they were doing in order to answer a question or help us herd a dog away from the area. Plan modifications were incorporated smoothly and efficiently. Additionally, the team was timely and left our yard tidy at the end of each day of the job.
Words can’t describe the transformation that Daniel and his team created- we can’t believe this is actually the same space. We now enjoy sitting out on our back patio.
We are so thrilled with the results, we are already in the planning stages of their next project with us.
We can’t recommend Daniel and his team highly enough! -
Dan and Aaron are incredibly knowledgeable about native plants and landscaping. They came for a consultation and walked around my yard to discuss invasive plants to remove and design ideas that are more beneficial to wildlife. They were a wealth of resources and I look forward to continuing to work with them for future garden installations.

EcoBackyards did a fantastic job landscaping our yard. Daniel is extremely knowledgeable about native NC plants and is uniquely qualified in the field of landscaping. I spoke with several other landscapers before deciding to work with EcoBackyards. Daniel was a pleasure to work with, and his crew was efficient, neat and thorough. 100% satisfied! I will have them come back and do more work for us.

We first encountered Daniel Jakobovits when he gave a presentation to Lifelong Learning, a club at Sun City Carolina Lakes. We were intrigued by the concept of using native plants to attract birds, pollinators and other wildlife to our yard. Also, Eco Backyards’ services were highly recommended to us by other residents of our community. Since our own backyard was for several years a barren wasteland we enlisted Daniel to give us some ideas of what we could do with it.
Ultimately, working back and forth between Daniel with his knowledge of Ecology, design and installation, and my husband with his own ideas, we came up with a plan…one which had to go through several modifications before being approved by our HOA. Daniel was very patient.
When we finally started to break ground, it was only a matter of three or four days to a complete transition from “nothing” to our own “Garden of Eden!”
Eco Backyards has enthusiastic gardening assistants and an huge machine which Daniel used to plant our very large merlot redbud tree, the centerpiece of our garden.
The garden was begun in May and by the end of summer we had had a total of FOUR monarch butterfly caterpillars living on our flowering plants. Countless other butterflies, birds, a large variety of bees and other beneficial insects had visited where none had ever come before.
We are very satisfied with Eco Backyards’ work. We are enjoying the new garden every day and are extremely happy we undertook this project.
