I recently had my gas fireplace serviced by a chimney sweep company. Scheduling my appointment was easy, and the wait time was about one to two weeks, which seemed pretty normal. The staff I spoke with on the phone were very friendly and professional. On the day of my service, I received a helpful text message letting me know the technicians were on their way. The message included the technician’s name—Clarence—along with his photo, my address, his certifications, and a little personal introduction. There was even a link to track his arrival and a number to call or text with any questions. I’ve never experienced that level of communication from any other service before! Clarence arrived with another technician, both wearing shoe covers to keep my home clean. We talked about my fireplace issue, and then they carefully set up a clean cloth tarp around the work area. They placed their tools on the tarp and got right to work. They thoroughly checked everything, including the pilot and thermocouple, and found the problem was debris in the pilot assembly. Both technicians removed all the fake logs from my fireplace and vacuumed each one individually to get rid of soot—something I didn’t expect, but really appreciated! They also rearranged the logs to help with airflow and to prevent future debris from collecting on the pilot opening. When they finished, they vacuumed the tarp and the surrounding area, leaving absolutely no mess behind—which is impressive, considering the job involved cleaning out a fireplace. Clarence and his teammate were both extremely professional and polite. I’ve had less positive experiences with other fireplace companies in the past—things like missed appointments, long waits, or messy work. This company is by far the best chimney sweep service I’ve used. I will definitely call them again in the future and recommend them to anyone looking for reliable chimney or fireplace care.

After struggling with a persistent leak around our chimney, my wife and I reached out to Zen Chimney Cleaning for help. We’d previously hired another company that actually made the leak worse, but this time the experience was completely different. Lucas came out to our home in Matthews, listened carefully to our concerns, and then climbed up on our roof to take a close look. He quickly found that there were three separate issues causing our problem and walked us through exactly what needed to be fixed. He took several clear photos to show us everything, which made it easy for us to understand what was wrong. These pictures ended up being really helpful for us to explain to the previous company what went wrong, and we eventually got our money back. The estimate we got was fair, and they were able to get started right after the next big rainfall, so we didn’t have to worry about more damage. Clarence led the repair work. He worked closely with us to match our original brick as best as possible, rebuilt the upper part of the chimney, put in a new flue and outlet hardware, added a drip edge, and thoroughly cleaned and inspected our fireplace insert. He even fixed a small hole in the heat shield outlet, making sure everything was totally safe for burning. Clarence also redid the counterflashing the right way, correcting the previous mistakes. Now, the leak is completely gone and we have a strong, beautiful chimney that we feel safe using during cooler nights. Throughout the whole process, everyone was on time, communicative, and really knew their craft. This was easily one of the best contractor experiences we’ve ever had. We’re truly grateful for the team’s professionalism, skill, and for helping protect our home. We highly recommend their chimney sweep and repair services to anyone in Matthews or nearby areas.
