Blackburns Chimney came to perform a through cleaning of my chimney. They assessed the state of the structure (about 70 year old home) and made recommendations to seal the cracks that appeared over time. We also discussed the potential of the fireplace conversion to gas. All in all, this was a very positive experience and I will definitely call them back to perform the rest of the fireplace updates. I appreciate their thoroughness and transparency and would recommend them.

The initial inspection was thorough and explained the challenges we were having with our fireplace/chimney. Brad was so knowledgeable and I appreciated all his detailed answers to my questions. A gas insert is coming in a few months, so I will review again once that is installed.

My wife had an asthma attack that was kind of scarce. We took that as a wakeup call to clean things up around the house that had been neglected. Our duct work was one of them. Called Blackburn’s up to clean our air ducts though out the house, and couldn’t be more satisfied. They were very professional and didn’t leave a mess at all. They covered the floors where they hooked up their giant vacuum hose, and cleaned up after their work was finished. In addition to cleaning the ducts, they treated them to prevent mold growth as condensation build while running the AC in the summer. I am sure that this will help as we attempt to prevent any future asthma issues. Thanks again for all your help and coming at such a short notice. -- Jeff

Its now been 10 years later and we needed our Chase Cover replaced on top of the chimney. Had Blackburn Chimney Services come out to replace it, and they did a fantastic job. Our old one was more than likely the original from 1995 and rusted pretty bad. Blackburn came out and installed a new stainless steel one that wont rust and it looks great. They also replaced the collar around the pipe too. The new one also also has grooves to keep it from pooling water. As a courtesy the guys also inspected the outside of the chimney and fixed a couple of things there too. Posted some before and after pictures for those interested. Cancelled the first inspection the day of the appointment. Took them ultimately over a month to get here. During the inspection, They did not show up with ladders and requested to climb out my attic windows. I asked for a quote that would include both removing the chimneys and/or possible repairs. They agreed and told me I would receive the quote within two days (by Friday). They were only here for about 30 min. I did NOT receive the quote two days later, I only received payment due notifications for the inspection. After following up the next week, I was finally sent a quote, but it was incorrect and didn’t include the discussed details. After a second request, I received an updated quote that still didn’t fully reflect the scope discussed, and the price was excessive for the incomplete work proposed. The quote was 3x higher than the other quotes I got. I ultimately went with a different company but was still asked to pay the ridiculous inspection fee even though it was never fully completed.

I recently had an exceptional chimney inspection by Blackburns Chimney. Scheduling was easy, and the customer service team was very accommodating. The technician arrived on time and demonstrated great professionalism and expertise. He thoroughly explained the inspection process and answered all my questions. The technician maintained cleanliness throughout the process, which I appreciated. He provided a detailed report with photos and clear recommendations. There was no pressure to buy additional services, just honest advice. I was very impressed with the overall experience. I highly recommend Blackburns for their outstanding chimney inspection services.

Had a competitor do some work. Not up to par. Competitor suggested an additional $7k in "needed repairs". Blackburn re inspected and told me the truth. I will be using them for both my fireplaces going forward for maintenance and repairs...... Update 7/25/25 Had them out again and got exactly what I expected, a professional technician and quality work. No way would I have anyone else maintain/repair our fireplace.

First off, the administrative end of Blackburn was very easy to work with. Within half an hour of submitting a request for a quote, I received a call with the quote and to schedule an appointment. Communication regarding timing of the appointment was a priority for Blackburn as well, up until Ralph the technician arrived at our house. Ralph & team were very courteous and took time to explain everything they were doing in detail and provide rationale and benefits for a variety of treatment options. I was shown photos of all parts of our chimney, inside and out, and informed of potential consequences of lack of treatment, without getting any pushy sales shtick. Prices were also very reasonable compared to other local vendors.

Always polite, careful and thorough. Also great at cleaning after service.

I'd scheduled a routine cleaning and inspection for the chimney in my 110-year-old home. Never having used the chimney nor knowing the last time it was cleaned or inspected, I wasn't sure what to expect. Upon inspection, they discovered that the chimney didn't need a full sweep, and so they adjusted the price for the service call in my favor.

On top of being very fair about the visit, they respected my property and gave me a reasonable estimate for some preventative maintenance. I look forward to doing business with them in the future.

This is our third year using Blackburns. From start to finish the service was excellent! We feel confident that the work was done correctly. Absolutely no mess when the job was done. Brad is very knowledgeable and a really nice guy. Blackburns is our vendor of choice!

I'm really pleased with the repairs made to my chimney. Blackburn's did a thorough inspection and explained the exact cause of recurring moisture damage through roof around chimney. I learned that the leak was due to condensate from improperly vented hot water heater over a long period of time. There was no problem with flashing around chimney as had been explained to me by another contractor. Blackburn's installed a stainless steel liner to the chimney, joined the exhausts from both furnace and hot water heater and then properly vented them through a new opening into the chimney/stainless steel flue. Repairs to masonry (new grouting) was done at the top of chimney. Work was done expeditiously with full explanation at every step. Technicians were very knowledgeable and made sure that I was comfortable with every aspect of the work being done. They also were careful to protect surfaces in the house and remove all debris and remnants after repair.

The work done on our fireplace was very professional and completed in a timely manner. They also kept everything cleaned up. We had an insert installed and it puts out a lot of heat. We are pleased with the work done by Blackburns’ technicians.

Blackburns Chimney is awesome. These guys were very efficient and easily translated technical terminology to explain the issue with my system. Their transparency and honesty was a relief as this is a topic I know little to nothing about. For anyone seeking assistance in the Columbus area I highly recommend their services.
