If you are going to send out 7 vehicles and 20 people to trim trees for First Energy, you may want to tell them to leave the yards free of debris, the way they walked into it. There is no excuse for this type of unprofessionalism and lack of oversight even if you are subcontracting all this out anyway.

Had three of their team members working in the Elkhart area honk, jeer and harass me to roll down my window so they could “holla at ya girl.”

Disgusting behavior especially in a company vehicle. After six different calls I was finally transferred to a person who seemed to be taking notes. Considering the tone of the call I really do not expect a call back.

Please train your team better in appropriate behavior towards women when out in a community representing your company. There is NO EXCUSE for this behavior.

We were on Ford road in Ohio. They were parked on a bridge. They were repeatedly telling us to go through but it was physically impossible. There was a 2.5 ft gap between the cone, the outrigger and the guard rail. How is a car supposed to get through? Then they start yelling at us and said they had a dump truck come through there. I would like to know how a dump truck got through a 2.5 ft gap.

I did business with Davey for a number of years as they bought out the other company out I'd been dealing with.

Though I had a contract to perform tree services, they did not apply the treatment when they'd agreed to, charged me anyway, lost the check I sent them (I got it back five months later with no explanation) and then treated me very rudely for having "not paid."

Lots of phone calls, reissued checks, etc to straighten it out. Never got an apology or a refund for the misapplied services.

Davey is just too much trouble to deal with -- find someone else.

The Davey Tree "Expert" Company was hired by an outside company to cut down a tree in our yard that could mess with a powerline. On the slip we were given it explicitly states that alongside taking the tree down, they were also responsible for planking and chipping what they could. They arrived around 8 in the morning, didn't give us any sort of notice, cut the tree down, then did little to nothing else until 1 o'clock later that day. My grandmother went out to confront them about it and when she explicitly stated that she would grab the slip that had the requested order, they left without a word (not even a minute had passed). I understand having a job to do and wanting to deal with entitled people wasn't a part of it, but its not entitled to actually want the job your u were hired for done. They spent 4+ hours doing nothing and then don't want to hear about the issues they've caused?! My grandmother can't clean up a tree strewn across our yard, and my mother and I both have busy jobs! No father or grandfather to help either.

Tldr; They showed up unannounced, didn't do what they were hired to do, left our yard a mess, and left when they were confronted.

Hired them to fertilize my lawn. They put it on too strong and everywhere they drove the buggy is now brown. Technician came out to check after I complained and he said "it's not dead the stalks are still alive" and didnt even apologize. Rookie mistake from a company I assumed knew what it was doing.

Was told by Davey tree if service was ever needed done that would hang flyer saying when they would be back to trim power line. Two months later on my surveillances cameras Davey Tree took apart my LOCKED gate to my driveway and went onto my property without permission. Trimmed one small limb and left. There less than 15 minutes. Point being, they broke into my property and drove in. Only comment I got was locks are suppose to keep honest people out. Contacted by Jason who is in charge, with no results for my area kinsman Ohio. Also spoke to his boss with no return call or results either. Loved to hear from the ceo or coo of Davey on there opinion if somebody broke into there property for a a non emergency issue how would they feel???

    Looks like a decent company.
Im sorry to be the bearer of bad reviews, but here's my experience with this company today.
DTE Energy is outsourcing tree trimming in my city. This company is trimming the trees on my street. The company trucks park in front of my home and one crew member proceeded to sweep their company truck clean of paper and miscellaneous debris directly on to my lawn.
When i came outside to point it out and ask if they would clean the mess they replied that they would. But they did not. I will also be making a complaint with DTE Energy. The city listed on the company truck was Kent, OH.

Share my experience about Davey tree company? Sure will. These incompetent “tree trimmers” were hired by my city for utility trimming. I own an historic home with two oaks facing the street. I understand the need for utility trimming, and this has been done effectively and properly in the past WITH OTHER COMPANIES. Yesterday Davey BUTCHERED my trees to a point of no return. They destroyed my Saints flag, which was flying because we received NO ADVANCE NOTICE that they were in the area. They left my property in shambles. But more importantly, my beautiful trees are destroyed, the curb appeal of my historic home is gone, and for the first time in the history of my home ownership, I am left with a feeling of utter helplessness.

A brand name will gain a reputation based on those who wave it around. Just got cut off by a Davey employee in a RAV4 hybrid out here in Northglenn, CO who did it by passing in a turn only lane and then proceeded to bully someone who slowed down for a school zone into going faster than the speed limit. The responsibility of such an employee speaks volumes about the responsibility of the company. Don’t bother.

Received a call 40 minutes before I was supposed to have an appointment for a quote, no voicemail from a guy named Heath. Returned the call ten minutes later, let him know I was at the property via voicemail. Called back after he was 20 minutes past appointment time. Left the property at 2:45 (appointment was at 2:00pm) with no quote voicemail or callback. Called the headquarters to leave them feedback and was put on hold for ten minutes before I decided they have wasted enough of my time. Any company who does business like this, shouldn’t be in business…. Avoid this company!

CEI sent these people to take down a branch that was in danger of falling and taking out electrical at my house. The result of that was that they ended up bringing a huge limb down on my lines and damaged my house, yard, and fence.
    Professionals, indeed. /s
Before they left my house, they provided me with no contact information, no names, and no explanation as to how after 90 minutes, the issue they came to prevent occurred anyway.
Then they left with a massive, potentially electrically charged pile of branches and logs laying in extreme proximity to the down electrical line.
Additionally, the still-live line was pulled tight against my (conductive) aluminum gutters.
No mention that they had contacted CEI to send someone out immediately because of a potential shock and fire hazard.
Just remember, your safety is Davey's priority! /s
They dipped out so quick after this that they left climbing equipment behind.
During the claims process with CEI, the person that contacted me from Davey consistently denied the issue was their fault, despite picture evidence that the damage occurred while they were working.
They tried to create a word salad conversation that was an attempt to try and get me to make incorrect statements about the timeline of occurrences and when evidence/pictures was collected. I am assuming that this was an attempt to prevent me from pursuing legal options to this.
While court and suing are fun (and in this case, likely very effective), telling the truth and exposing the circus behind the business name is much more effective.
And, just like any other company unwilling to accept their mistakes and do the right thing, they blamed the branch falling on the weather... on a sunny day... after they had been working on it for 90 minutes.

I would recommend to anyone that needs tree services to completely avoid this trainwreck of people trying to hide their own mistakes.
That is, unless you like paying an electrician to fix the damage to your home's electrical system, your neighbors like when the result of a downed line caused a brownout in one of your home's rooms, and enjoy watching people stare confusedly at the issue while claiming professional status at the same time.

Edit: I will not be contacting you. Your company had their chance to do the right thing. It's been a month and it took this negative review for you to reconsider proper compensation. Based on the behavior I've observed and dealt with from your employees, I decided to post this review under a pseudonym. The reasoning being that I fully expect that you'd try to move forward with a frivolous libel lawsuit or try to punish me in some other way. This is a result of my interactions with your employees.
Additionally, because it seems you can't even get other people to reconsider their one-star reviews, I'm guessing that whatever you have to say to me isn't worth my time anyway.

I live in Statesville NC across from a busy park. There is a crosswalk that most don't pay attention to. Your guy did. Even when the cars on the other side kept going andI motioned for him to go ahead, he kept waiting!

The workers for this company knocked my power pole down while cutting tree’s at the apartments behind us and broke it so bad the entire box and pole had to be replaced. Then told my husband who was in a wheel chair that it was our land lords problem. I had to scrape together enough money for a night in a hotel which they never offered to pay for. Now I get home this afternoon and the power still cannot be turned on because they need to put the pole in deeper and hire an electrician. That’s 2 nights I have to pay for a hotel. All my food in my refrigerator is now ruined and as I’m writing this they are actively trying to fix my neighbors water line they ran over. Just be aware I am not only calling the local news I am calling the better business bureau and anyone else I can possibly call. Your workers are rude, unprofessional, and refuse to fix something they broke. I support a family of 4 on a very fixed income and my husband just had his leg amputated in December. This is rediculous and you people should be ashamed of yourselves.

Poor customer service. Would not recommend. Incredibly poor customer service.
They did work on a neighbour's property and drove all over my property last fall, doing a lot of damage. The crew said they'd be back to fix the damage. They didn't come back. A few weeks later, I called and spoke to a receptionist who said she'd have the owner call me. No returned call. I kept calling until I got to speak to the manager of the local office. After repeated calls and assurances, they still haven't come out to fix the damage. This is now over 6 months!! I've given up on them. I will tell everyone I know about this experience, in order to let people know that they should not use a company that won't stand behind their work. This includes the local utility companies, as I happen to have friends working there.

I'm only giving them one star since I can't give them zero stars.

I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone who cares about customer service.

I was traveling Brownsmill Rd in Evans City, PA this afternoon when we encountered one of your job sites.

First, I’d like to point out that coming from one direction, the caution signs and “flagger ahead” sign (which, there was NO flagger ahead) was probably 3/4 of a mile away from where the actual work was being completed. There were NO safety signs coming in the opposite direction. This is a highly travelled road and that is a serious safety concern both for your workers and drivers.

The second issue that we had was coming back from our trip we stopped behind the work truck waiting to be waved along where there were two employees sitting along the road. After a couple minutes of waiting my husband rolled down the window and said “are we good to go?” & the employee replied with “if no one’s coming then I’d assume so, yeah”. Mind you, we can’t see around the equipment and two trucks. My husband replied with “well no one’s flagging down there and you’re on a bend” and the employee replied with “I don’t know, not my problem”.

This is extremely unsafe and unprofessional. From reading other reviews it seems like this is a common occurrence for this company.

they parked a giant truck on the lawn while eating lunch, ruined my grass and had an attitude about leaving. No satisfaction about getting GIANT ruts in lawn repaired either!!!

When I first got the price for the tree trimming, I almost decided to go with someone else. I am GLAD I DID NOT.
I wanted a trusted name instead of a "Bob, his cousin, and a chainsaw" type tree service.
The crew that arrived had their work cut out for them trimming a tree over power and cable lines to the house as well as those running down the street. I was truly impressed with how they operated the boom in the tree and avoided wires all at the same time. My tree looks great and my yard and driveway were cleaner after they left than before they showed up.
I now have no problem with the cost of the service! Money well spent in my opinion.

I had a number of projects done by Davey Tree over the last 15 years and all of my experiences were good. My latest project was the removal of a very large, old, and increasingly deteriorating tree in my back yard that required bringing heavy equipment that proved to be challenging. I had a four-person crew who got the tree cut and removed in about 6 hours. They were incredibly careful with moving things around and protecting my driveway from damage. Before this project, in 2015 Davey Tree removed a large dead maple on the front yard very professionally. I also had a Davey Tree crew removing a couple of smaller broken trees last summer that were done quickly. Other smaller projects like dormant pruning in the fall, yearly tree fertilizing and more were always done timely and professionally. I have never had any problems with Davey whether it is with estimating the cost, evaluating the health of trees, and paying for their services both by checks before and electronically now. In my experience they were always a very good company to work with.

They do lots of work down here in FL. First of all they did some service near my work a couple years ago and it looked absolutely terrible. They just left everything blocking the roads, like full chunks and branches in the road. It looked better when the hurricane came through and knocked over a tree than when this "professional" company came and did it. I would never hire them for any property i owned. But the worst part about these people are the truck drivers who dont know how to drive. They line up to 3 trucks in the passing lane then sometimes go 5 under the speed limit for no reason. And they do this every single day. And not just when they are turning they will drive down those passing lanes for miles and miles. They also bounce between those lanes without looking and with no signal at all so someone is going to get side swiped one of these days.
