Mike and his team at W88 are the best! I called over the holiday with a broken washing machine. Mike quickly came out, diagnosed the problem, quoted the repair, and assured me he would be back out as soon as they had the parts he needed from the warehouse. Within 4 days of calling, I was up and running again (at a reasonable price too)! Keep in mind, 2 of those 4 days were New Years Eve, and New Years Day. Considering this, Mike and his team were able to complete my repair within a single business day. Exceptional care, and exceptional results.

Mike was great! He came out to my home right before the 4th of July, assessed what the problem was with my Whirlpool Washer, and ordered the part that was needed. When the part arrived, he installed it.

You never want to have to get an appliance fixed. But Mike was wonderful with communications and scheduling. Tom and Sam were always on time, friendly, polite, and clean in my home. After they successfully fixed my microwave, Tom even reset the clock! Additionally, even though they knew it worked, they had me test it again so I was sure before they left. Mike at W88 did a great job for us. After a power outage he got the refrigerator running again. He came the day we called on a Saturday and ordered the part right away and came back as soon as he had the part. Great service for a reasonable price!

Sam came out to install a new ice maker in my freezer yesterday. He was extremely friendly and got the job done quickly. The ice maker is working perfectly now. Thank you for getting the job done in a timely manner and at a fair price.

My dryer decided to quit and W88 came quickly to the rescue. Apparently it was a faulty sensor for the start button. They repaired or replaced it (not sure) and the dryer is back in business. They also disconnected the obnoxiously loud end of cycle buzzer (thank you!!).
I honestly have no idea if the service charge was too high because i have no idea what service people are charging these days, but my dryer works and is no longer annoying, so the cost was worth it. Mike also assured me that he would return at no charge if the button continued to.misbehave.
All in all, I was pleased and satisfied with the results of the service call with W88. 😊

Mike was incredible! My fridge wouldn’t keep cold, called him late in the evening and was able to come next day. He was very informative and kind. They were able to figure out the issue with my fridge and get it repaired very quickly. They made sure everything was working properly, as well as tested the entire unit to ensure it was good to go before leaving. Would highly recommend his services!

However, it soon became evident that their business model revolves around dispatching multiple technicians, with Mike primarily managing scheduling and diagnostics rather than personally conducting repairs.

As a neurodivergent (autistic and highly sensitive) person, I deeply value patient, clear communication, and predictable interactions. Unfortunately, on subsequent calls, Mike became increasingly rushed and frustrated by my detailed, careful, DIY-oriented approach. My intention was genuinely to save him time and effort by confirming a diagnosis (dryer motor) before scheduling a visit. Instead of appreciating these proactive efforts, Mike seemed irritated, ultimately ceased responding entirely, and ghosted me without notice. This left me uncertain whether to wait further or immediately find another technician, causing unnecessary delays and anxiety.

This experience underscores two fundamentally different approaches to appliance repair businesses:

— Artisan model: Slightly higher rates, but direct, personalized interaction with a skilled professional who respects DIY efforts, values clear communication, and offers predictable outcomes.

— Economies of scale model (used by W88 Appliance Repair): Potentially lower prices, but involves multiple technicians, inconsistent communication, and less flexibility or appreciation for individualized approaches. (This is evident from their heavily Google-optimized website with hundreds of pages.)

I appreciate Mike's honest judgment in recognizing our mismatch early, sparing me potential additional frustration. However, I strongly encourage other neurodivergent customers, or anyone who values clear, patient, personalized communication and flexibility, to carefully consider whether this volume-driven business model will meet your needs.

I ultimately found an exceptional artisan technician elsewhere who not only respected but was impressed by my DIY approach. The difference was profound: Clear communication, peace of mind, genuine respect, and a successful repair.

Mike and his tech did a great job fixing our microwave. The door latch safety mechanism was broken. His tech. rebuilt the door latch, mechanism, and replaced the micro switches that are part of the door latch.. All for what I thought was a reasonable price. I will certainly call Mike again for any future appliance issues.

I had an absolutely fantastic experience with this company! My dryer broke down on a Friday evening—right at the start of Memorial Day weekend—and I was expecting a long wait. To my surprise, they answered my call immediately, and from the moment I contacted them to the time they arrived and completed the repair, it was all done in UNDER A HOUR!

My compressor failed on my LG refrigerator and called Mike was very informative and honest about the situation. He dispatched his team the next day and was very communicative. Luckily he had the part in stock so I didn’t have to wait while my food was defrosting. His team was very polite and Tom addressed me as “sir” which was very professional. I told him he could use my towels while soldering but he insisted on using his own. Currently the fridge is back to temperature. I definitely recommend W88 for the northeast suburbs.

W-88 (Mike was my serviceman) is a great service company. My washer broke and they were the only company to call back. Their response time was amazing. The prices were explained very clearly prior to the service call. Mike was great, he was there within the hour (they are local). He was very careful to read the instruction book, and consulted his co-worker with additional questions to assess what the root issue was. Mike returned with the part and installed it that very same day for a reasonable price for parts and labor. A rarity these days. I had a great experience and would recommend this company highly!

My refrigerator broke, and it stopped freezing. First, I called another company, and they told me the compressor had failed. They quoted me an astronomical amount for repairs. I turned to W88 for help. Technician Michael arrived, examined my refrigerator in detail, and checked the compressor and other parts of the fridge. He brought a lot of diagnostic equipment with him. He noticed that the compressor did not start, but he did not immediately jump to conclusions. Instead, he continued checking. In the end, the compressor turned out to be working, but the relay that started this compressor broke. The relay cost is no more than breakfast in a good cafe. He quickly replaced it, and the refrigerator started working. Michael saved me money and time since he had the necessary spare parts. I thank him for his professionalism and quality of work. I recommend this company and Michael in particular.
