Chimney Cricket fellows arrived promptly, were super friendly and respectful of the property, shared information about how our fireplace was set up and what different things meant / what to watch for with it. I have no doubt that Chimney Cricket installs beautiful fireplaces. However, I needed a certification on an existing fire place and I feel that the technician used deceptive tactics to coerce me into buying a new unit and replacing my entire masonry chimney. For example I was told we could not replace the liner without committing to costly repairs because it was impossible to know what size the liner was. When I got a second opinion, the other company was able to show me how to verify this in less than 5 min. I was also told that the brand I have is discontinued which I also found to be untrue. Admittedly the masonry work is probably not the best - but to insist that it needs to demolished and rebuilt completely seemed absurd when another company told me it only needed some repointing. Perhaps this was a one off bad experience but i would strongly advise getting a second opinion before committing to any large investment with this company.
