This service was about my gas furnace that suddenly stopped working. I have American home shield warranty, and they sent Service Mechanical Of Tidewater INC The first technician that came out said he could not work on the furnace because he did not have a coverall suit and could not get dirty because he had other service calls. The Dispatch called back the next day and said they had to order a coverall suit to do the job and try to put me off over a week after explaining it was cold and it was too long. They came sooner but found what I believe to be fictitious issues with my furnace and refused to do the work. I asked for a second opinion from American home shield Amazing Comfort came out and fixed the problem, which was not serious within a few minutes.

It okay to give people first, second and third chances because they came out quickly to refix the issue from the first time. The second time was March 7, 2028 and I put in another service request number 3 for the same issue today March 30, 2028. So, I'm just waiting for them to contact me and send someone out because it's cold and we have kids. I will update this if i hear from them today.
Update: They did call within an hour scheduling for tommorow. I'm hopeful
Next day update: Tech showed up as promised, fixed heat. No Charge.
However I'm only giving them one more star, because the tech left without giving us a receipt. For those of you utilizing your Home Warranty the next few things I say is very important. If your tech does not submit the diagnosis to the warranty company...and you do not have a receipt after a second or third call out, sometimes the warranty company does not know and because you do not have a receipt you can not prove it and you will most likely have to pay another fee. So my tech left without giving me a receipt and I had to call the office. They say I should have a receipt today. I feel like I've definitely given this company the benefit of the doubt. But to not give me a receipt seems really suspect. I will update you if I ever get a receipt and what happens with the fix.
Also remember you can file a complaint with the
Better Business Bureau (BBB) and even your
State Attorney General’s office
Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation
if you’re not getting anywhere. Sometimes going outside the company is the only way to get real attention on the issue.Update still did not receive a receipt as of this date.

I honestly didn’t know what to expect because I read so many negative reviews. The tech was on time, quick and my ac was up and running cool in about 30 minutes.

2 -10 should vet this contractor’s performance, customer service, and technicians. At least their phone is working now.

I just read a current review on your company and it said: 1- you are not professional and your customer service is gone. I read this on Next door. This reaches many people.

My nephew has medical issues and my sister has called several times with no initial response. I don't care what day or time professional services respond!!!!!!!!
His medical is urgent and air conditioning is a must. Seems like a serious lack of candor and concern for the individuals/ families being affected. -
Hampton Roads Acquisition Holdings, LLC.
Always reliable and quick to respond. They fix the issue fast and get things working right. Great service every time.

The tech was great! On time and professional, their appointment setter is a bit brash and can totally benefit from some customer service training! Over all I’m grateful they were able to come out and fix the problem so quickly

On May 13, through my AHS contract company, I was given Service Mechanical of Tidewater. They are a Hampton based HVAC company. The first call was made by a super rude guy just a couple days after my initial request. They were supposed to phone me the following day to let me know when parts would arivve and that most of them were not covered. I am ok w that bc some parts are. Out of pocket, I’m looking at over $800+ my service call fee of $75. Since 5/12, we have been sleeping on the floor of the family room with four fans and a borrowed window unit for air. Since the 13th, we have had record high humidity and temperatures. Still, no word. They know my number and do not pick up the phone. My husband has called from another phone to get a run around about parts taking ten days to two weeks and another 5-6 days to get an appointment set up for installation. The woman who answers incoming calls is above and beyond rude, nasty and Un-empathetic This is ridiculous but I know it is A/C season, so I have tried to be as patient as possible. There is a realistic limit to patience. Today makes 22 days with no word. Now when AHS calls them, they don’t answer. If we let go of this company and cancel our order, my $75 is gone and we start the process all over again with inspection, parts ordered and waiting to get an appt. for installation. I’m sick over it all at this point. Literally, physically ill. My animals are sick. The floor sucks. And a heat wave is comng after a couple cooler days right now. Please BUYER BEWARE! This is one of the most unprofessional, borderline criminal companies that has ever come to do repairs on our home. To be clear, they are located at 26 Towne Center Way in Hampton, VA. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED SO AWFULLY IN ALL MY LIFE. I have also read other reviews that give the same account. If I do get hospitalized for heat exhaustion, there will be a civil suit. Next stop, contacting the BBB. AGAIN, BUYER BEWARE!

I had a similiar experience as the other reviewer. I have a contract with AHS. They called Mechanical of Tidewater to assess my hvac unit. AHS approved a new hvac unit on 5/20/20. I waited 7 days for the company to contact me. I never received a call so I called to inquire about the status of the unit. The lady that answer the phone gave me limited information. She was rude and lashed out at me as I asked pertinent questions. I waited 26 days for this unit. I finally received a call to set an appoitment for install of the unit. Install was scheduled on 6/15/20. On this day, I was told that the equipmemt is not available. How do I receive a call for install when the equipment is not available? I was assured by company that the unit would come the next day. I'm still waiting. I took 2 days off from work making calls to this company.

Brian & Elaine were great!!! Elaine was very pleasant while setting my appt up. Brian diagnosed & repaired my furnace issue within a couple of minutes. I must say I was skeptical due to the reviews; however, I experienced great service from start to finish!

Horrible just horrible. Of course my home warranty requested that this company service me, but to be honest, they are a joke they came out to "repair" my unit 5 times. I'm in need of a new unit and they will not replace it. I've been sitting in a hot house for weeks. They deserve no stars.

I was referred to this company through the American Home Shield (AHS) Warranty company for a serious plumbing issue. A technician came to my home at 1pm on a Friday and said he could not fix the issue until waterworks came to turn off the water from the city line. He requested I call them and call him back when the water was off. NN waterworks turned the water off between 2:30-3:00. I called the technician who did not answer. I contacted the office who told me that a technician would not be able to come back to complete the job until Monday. Who tells you to turn your water off and then doesn't return for 3 days!! I've received mediocre service from them in the past but this final opportunity they will get from me. I am a broker and not only will I NOT be referring anyone to Service Mechanical. I will be pulling my 5 home warranties from AHS and assigning them to another company as well

Unpleasant and Overpriced!
AHS assigned Service Mechanical to repair/replace my water heater and provide other minor plumber services (reseal sink pop-up, running toilet) for my out of state property I was selling. While the tech, Richie, was seemingly knowledgeable, the services they charged were a complete rip-off not to mention some unnecessary. Richie claimed my replacement water heater (that was under warranty) would be too big to fit through door and the door frame would need to come off (in fact, he incorrectly read the dimensions). Additionally, he wrote up the services as modifications (not covered by AHS) versus replacement parts/equipment (covered). Charges included $175 for an emergency drain pan, $150 for pipe mods, $85 for sink pop-ups among other exorbitant charges totaling in excess of $900 of non-covered costs ($1415 total).
After going back and forth between the AHS and an unpleasant female rep at Service Mechanical, we opted to cash out and go with another company. The licensed plumber we hired (through the buyer's agent) charged only $588 total (include $30 drain pan, $80 to replace water lines, $20 pop-up, etc.)... which after AHS cash out, my out-of-pocket expenses = $73 (savings of ~$830).
While AHS shares some blame in this, Service Mechanical was very unpleasant to deal with and extremely overpriced. Recommend customers look elsewhere for plumbing (and HVAC) services.

Three attempts and my AC unit still have the same problem. Calling them back for the fourth time would be a disaster. American Home Shield doesn’t pay for refrigerant. This I didn’t know so these guys put in refrigerant and it leaked out. From January to March is pass the thirty day mark so I have to pay again. Have to run the unit in emergency heat to keep the coils from icing up. Which make my electric bill go up to $500.00 . Plus $75.00 deductible. Now I have another company out here to fix the problem which will cost me another deductible of $75.00 and time off work. Please stay away from this company. Very Incompetent . If I could give them a lower rating I would.

They were contacted through my Home warranty and there service sucked. NO thorough inspection was done. Called for them to come back out due to the issue still being ongoing they said they'll come back out and never showed up. I highly would not recommend. Service was horrible.

American Home Shield contracted this company out to repair a water leak issue in my master bedroom shower. I wanted to take a moment to write how the tech took the time to educate me on issue I was experiencing . My issue ended up being a cartridge replacement. He was so knowledgeable on ever aspect of the job. I feel that him taking the time to go above and beyond reflect him and the company as well. Thank you so much again!!!

This company was called out to my home by AHS to diagnose my broken water heater. The tech came up with a bs list of items coveniently not covered by the home warranty in the amount of nearly $800. What a scam! I took the cash out option and canceled my contract with AHS. Buyer beware!
