Definitely 5/5 stars for Tuck company. He did an amazing work for our driveway. 👍👷‍♂️

We hired Tuck to install concrete for a ~800 sqft driveway, portico walkup, and side trash container storage area in April 2024. We received bids from multiple reputable contractors and Tuck stood out amongst the group because of his knowledge, professionalism, and honesty. Our project was done in conjunction with one of our neighbors who had a similarly sized job and Tuck was very helpful giving us the right info the make an informed decision. Although he wasn't the lowest cost option, his knowledge on how to execute the job given the weather and site conditions made us confident in his ability to install a great driveway. One year later and both our hold driveways are holding up great with no signs of settling. I would 100% go with Tuck for any future concrete work.

There are not words to express how grateful we are for Tuck GC during this snow storm. If his work ethic is like this on all projects, I’d use him for anything!!! You won’t regret your decision using Tuck!!!

E would have been encased in nice until July if it wasn't for Tuck. Super nice guy, very fast response time and doesn't price gouge you. Will def keep him in mind for non snow related projects too!

Tuck GC did incredible work for me on a high traffic road with difficult access. Driveway and drainage solution turned out great. Tuck was prompt and clear with communication throughout the project and I’m very pleased with the result.

Tuck was super hero this week! He freed us from our ice cliffs at the end out our drive and removed the slalom we called sidewalks He was prompt, communicative and professional! Would recommend!

UPDATE: Tuck came back today, one week later to retrieve his cones and provide one final inspection. He then power washed the street where work was done and power washed our new driveway. He didn't have to do that and yet he did which makes us appreciate him even more. Tuck has exceeded our expectations.

TL;DR Tuck is the man. He knows everything about VDOT aprons and driveways. His reputation precedes him with the VDOT inspectors. His prices are in the mid-high range but you get what you pay for: excellent workmanship, incredible transparent service, and a driveway that will pass inspections.

The Long Version:
Over one week, I interviewed 10 driveway contractors who each had vastly different ideas about what I could legally do to install a driveway in my front yard which at the time had 3 trees, a retaining wall, and no apron (curb cut-out).

One person said I could do it with no permit, wrong. Another said I needed to ask the county, also wrong. And another said I needed to talk to VDOT not the county. After discovering that the last guy was right, I contacted VDOT and became overwhelmed by all of the paperwork I needed to prepare for a permit.

That's when I Googled "VDOT apron" and the first search result was Tuck GC. I read a couple of their articles and knew that these guys could help us.

When Tuck pulled up, he patiently listened as I fumbled my way around explaining what we needed. Then he explained what we could do, what we should do, and provided a few more suggestions that would greatly improve things.

We decided to add a 20' double-car pad and replace our existing walkway since it had no control joints (to prevent cracking). He gave us a rough-estimate right away and came back the next day with a formal proposal.

Let me be clear, Tuck was the first contractor out of 10 to provide a real proposal. One guy actually sent me a photo of his notepad covered in chicken scratch while the rest never even followed up!

Out of the 10 quotes, Tuck's was 4th most expensive. In other words, there were 6 cheaper quotes, and 3 more expensive quotes. But none of those 9 knew how to install a new apron legally. Only Tuck offered to help us from A to Z.

With winter coming, we knew we were in a time crunch because no respectable concrete team would pour in freezing temperatures.

We really wanted to sign the contract but felt that this was a large project for. It was going to be expensive. Tuck was great in helping us adjust the payment into 4 stages. After working that out, we signed the contract and he fulfilled every deliverable.

Tuck quickly got us through permit process, we hired a great tree removal team to take out our 3 trees, and then Tuck kept us in the loop as his crews caught up with all of their prior work. We waited 2-3 weeks and at any point that we had a question or wanted to update him on tree removal, Tuck was just a text away.

Finally, Tuck got us an install date. He took extra care to remind us a day earlier that his team needed the street clear. His reminders helped us coordinate shuffling our cars and our neighbors' cars around.

Installation lasted two days and it went smoother than he had promised. With zero rainfall, his crew wasted no time demolishing the retaining wall and walkway, then prepped our front yard.

The three dump trucks picked up the waste on the first day, and the two concrete trucks with his team poured with precision on the second day. Now here we are on the third day and my wife and I had big, ridiculous grins on our faces as we walked about our new driveway.

We can barely wait the 7 days to finally pull our cars in.

The mix of heavy snow and freezing rain left my truck and car buried under a thick ice wall from the city plows. The driveway entrance was frozen solid and very hard to clear with a shovel, but the team's machinery made easy work of it.

We texted halfway through to move the cars once they were unstuck so they could clean the ice from underneath them.
They cleared the entire site, including the driveway and mailbox area.

They also took care of the street for several surrounding neighbors, pushing the ice wall toward the common area instead of leaving it in front of the houses.

It was a thorough job that saved everyone a lot of backbreaking work. If you're dealing with a heavy frozen mess, these guys are the way to go. Highly recommended and the rates are very affordable!

Tuck and his crew did an amazing job. I found Tuck through google after talking with a few recommended crews from a previously contractor but found none were willing to through the permitting process nor had proper VDOT apron experience. After getting in touch with him, I met up with on a Saturday, explained how my situation, duplex house with no driveway, and we created plan. Tuck was able to secure the permits and even was able to work with the county on a design, saving me from having to move a water meter, which would have been several thousands dollars. The work itself was installing a new driveway, new concrete path to my house, a walkway to the back of the house and a trash pad. It took just 2 work days and was exactly as designed. County employees showed up from another house nearby and said how great the work was. Tuck went the extra mile and cut my door fence and made the fence mechanism work better... and even fixed my neighbors. Overall, he and his crew did amazing work at a fair price. Highly recommend him.

Tuck and his crew did an amazing transformation of our driveway and front entrance. We went from a rapidly deteriorating asphalt drive way to a new concrete driveway, a new stone walkway, and stone put over our existing plain concrete front stoop. Tuck is very easy to work with. For example he met with us for initial design of our front entrance, he met us at the stoneyard to help pick out the right stone for the walkway and front stoop, and he coordinated closely with our carpenter who was building a portico over the front stoop. Tuck is very meticulous and detailed about his work, and it is obvious that he takes great pride in it. From design to completion we give Tuck GC 5 a star rating!

Requested an estimate. They came out late but thats normal for contracting companies. They could not provide an estimate at the time. I've contacted the sales rep twice gotten no response. Even called into the company and provided all my information again still have not received anything. A clear waste of time, been over a week and was promised a estimate "same day" multiple times and nothing

Sheldon came for our annual sump pumps/system check. He cleaned our pumps and checked our lines were clear. To ensure we understood what he had done and how it system was working, he called us down to show us specifically what he had done. He also answered all of our related questions and gave us what seemed to be his honest opinion. He wasn't rushed in his manner.

I am happy with the service I received from 58 Foundations & Waterproofing. The one active sump pump we have had not been maintained in 10 years and did not have a battery backup. The secondary backup hadn’t gone off in a long time and was dry. Maybe the water flow was redirected elsewhere.

Mr. Green was able to set it up so that in case there was any water coming to the other sump pump it would be redirected to the one working sump pump, which sends the water to the curb, far from the house foundation.

He was able to get at least 10 years of dirt out of the system and the sump pump (at least 7 gallons worth) which allows for a better flow and quieter pump. He also added a battery backup in case the power goes out.

I give 58 Foundations & Water proofing 5 stars for excellent overall work and great customer services. The team had originally done some work to fix a leak in my basement. Unfortunately the original work did not fix the issue. I called 58s customer service department and without issue sent a person to check the problem. With no additional cost, thanks to the 100% warranty, 58 foundations sent a a service technician (Sheldon Green) who did an excellent job to fully fix the problem. 58 Foundation did some additional waterproofing in my basement in May 2024. The service technician, Sheldon Green, was a true professional. He explained everything that was going to be done from start to finish. He also went the extra mile to ensure that all of my concerns were addressed. He and his assistance were in and out quickly, and ensured that the work area was cleaned before leaving the premises. After working with Sheldon, I would gladly reach out to 58 Foundation for any additional work needed.

I’ve been using ‘58 Foundations for annual service of a new sump pump that they installed a couple of years ago. Our service specialist, Matt Perry has been consistently professional and responsive in scheduling appointments and answering our questions.

Last week, service technician, Sheldon Green performed a site inspection after we noticed water intrusion in our home. He was thorough in his inspection and took the time to find an underlying issue that would have gone unnoticed without his attention to detail. He was professional and clearly communicated the problem so that we could take next steps. Should we need additional work, I hope Sheldon is assigned to our property.
