Joe fixed our appliance very quickly but left us with a bill that was not itemized. I asked him for an itemized bill which he sent to me. We reviewed the bill together to discuss bill rate questions that I had. I think there was some lack of experience on both ends that led to initial confusion. We eventually came to an understanding.

Bill rates in this service business are varied and anything but straight forward. There’s often a service charge that usually includes some diagnostic time. Then, there’s an hourly rate beyond what can’t be immediately fixed. The hourly rate may be more or less for the first hour. Then there’s parts and materials cost. Even after you understand rates, there’s a question about when the clock starts and stops. If the work requires more effort in the same amount of time, does the rate increase? There’s a lot that goes into determining the bill so people should be clear on this before the work starts. Whomever you call, you have to deal with this.

I didn’t meet Joe in person but I think he’s young. Qualified but young. He did a good job for us, so I’m going to give him 4 stars. To earn that extra star he needs to work on communication with the customer and resolve questions quickly and with less effort.

We’ve used Stoughton Appliance Repair in time of need twice lately. First to fix a washing machine at a time when our whole family was down with the flu and we were running through a lot of clothes from tummy upsets. Joe risked flu exposure and promptly came to our rescue. The second time was to fix a dishwasher. We are extremely satisfied with his service and reasonable rates. Will use him again if we need repairs.

Came within 2 hours of calling and fixed our washing machine within 30 minutes. Most importantly Joe was so kind and friendly! Will definitely call again for appliance repairs and recommend to friends.
