Electrical reviews in Buffalo, New York

Update: September 2022
Solar Liberty came out last summer and removed all the solar panels and replaced every electrical connector. The system has been working fine since then.
Update: August 2021 (3 years later)
When the system works, I have no complaints. However, since we had our system installed in July 2018, the system has been down 8 different times for a total of over 60 days due to either the poor quality of the system components or because of poor craftsmanship (we'll never know which).
Currently, our system has been down for over a week (red light on the inverter...I reset the system and it still won't work) and last Monday Solar Liberty told me that they would get back to me right away. On Wednesday I asked for an update and was told I would have an answer by Thursday morning. On Friday morning I emailed them again (this time very frustrated) and I haven't heard back from them and now won't hear anything until Monday, at least.
There is a known Arc Fault problem in our system...Solar Liberty identified this as a problem in the past and told me that they will probably have to remove the panels and inspect the wiring in order to fix it. They just don't seem very willing to do this and make the system work properly. So, our $20,000 system is sitting there producing nothing during the middle of the summer (again).
July 2018: Excellent Job. The crew did a very professional job installing my solar panels and customer service was excellent in helping answer all my questions. -
Great products and a great company. My solar panels were installed over three years ago. Installation was performed efficiently and professionally without any problems. System has been performing well since. One of the best investments I ever made. I joking tell friends that I have installed a "printing press" on my roof that prints me $$$ every day. The Earth needs more people to consider going solar. Solar Liberty is a great company to turn that goal into reality.

We started the Solar Panel process back in September, 2017 after attending an informational session in our town. With choices of two businesses, we decided to go with Solar Liberty and we are glad we did. From the beginning of the process to the installation the process was flawless. Solar Liberty made the process as easy as possible for us and there was no high pressure sales pitch. We were honestly told what to expect from our solar panels. The installation was completed in January, 2018 and we are so happy with the outcome. Recently in January, 2019 we experienced some "communication problems" with our panels. I contacted Solar Liberty and left a message. A return call was promptly made and the technician, Chris, walked us through the process to troubleshoot the problem. He was patient and informative and helped us solve the problem !! If you are looking for a solar panel company that goes above and beyond, contact Solar Liberty for an estimate. We are glad we did !!!

Very satisfied with solar liberty’s service we had for installing solar panels on our house twice. (We had them come back the second time because we loved everything the panels did for our home). The staff always was there for us when we had any questions. The installation process was quick and easy and highly recommended for any home or business. My husband and I agree it was a great decision and would definitely do it over again. It’s worth it going solar and we love we can monitor the progress of each panel one by one at any moment on our phones. Get some solar you won’t regret it!!!

My wife and I shopped around many places to figure out who would best fit our solar needs. We chose Solar Liberty because of their raving reviews and were extremely happy we did so. Not only were they a pleasure to work with during planning and installation but they’re always there to help with any follow-up questions, service or needs that we had in the future. We are extremely happy with their customer service and would highly recommend them to anyone that wants high-quality solar for their home.

I have not had my system for 8 full months. I may have been lucky with some nice sunny days, but I have not had one single electric bill (except the basic monthly charge). I do not have a large system (14 panels) and have still produced over 3700 kWh. I enjoy checking the app a few times per week. It is quick and easy and also appears accurate (nearly matched what NYSEG records). Solar Liberty made the whole process easy. NYSEG was great about changing my meter to a bi-directional meter. I am even thinking about adding 3 more panels!

I had solar panels installed and it was not a good experience. To be clear, the panels seem to work great and the final system was installed well, but the process was really a bit of a nightmare. For a supposedly turnkey system, we had to be there for every step of the way. Me and my husband had to spend countless hours on the phone for things to go right. Communication was truly awful, and that was the main issue: from a condescending manager to them not spotting obstacles on our roof (like a chimney) and more problematically blaming us for it, to them forgetting parts during the install, to the install lead guy who didn’t speak a word of English and discussed where to put our panels with scratch drawings, to national grid not showing up within 10 days of the installation as required by law. We also were unaware of a $20 monthly NYS tax on top of the connection fee that charges us extra for using solar. So the bottom line: the panels work great. Anything prior to that was quite bad. We will see in the long run if the headache was worth it.
I had initially put only 2 stars but I am adding 1 star because the president of the company called me, and was clearly apologetic. It doesn't change my less than ideal experience but at least it shows they care enough to give you a phone call and make a good gesture, and I believe him when he says he will have a chat with his employees and was not happy either at how this particular install went. I just wish I had known I could contact him directly beforehand, because I would have and that would have probably solved a few headaches! -
In November 2014, Solar Liberty installed 14 Sun Power solar panels on our roof. The installation went flawlessly and the solar panels have worked perfectly. The only glitch in 10 years was the failure of our inverter in 2020 which Solar Liberty replaced under warranty. Between April and November, we send more kWh to the grid than we use in our home. In recent years that window decreased to May - November because we have purchased a battery electric car. We wish we anticipated this purchase in 2014!

I have had my Solar Liberty installed system for over 4 years now. I am already nearing the pay off period. It is crazy to see how much energy we can get from the sun in Western NY. From the sales people to the installers, the process was a breeze. The work done was quality work and the product has had no issues. I would recommend Solar Liberty to my friends and neighbors and would be happy to talk with anyone who is considering a system and wants to hear directly from a home owner.

I've been very happy with my solar installation. Solar Liberty did a great job throughout the process, from the initial quote/proposal all the way through turning the system on. The proposal was very detailed and included a pretty accurate representation of the performance I should expect to see throughout the years. During the installation all of the workers were very professional and explained every step of the process and worked with me where any minor adjustments needed to be made. I only wish I had done this sooner to avoid the new fire codes so I could have squeezed more panels up there.

Everyone has been pleasant to work with. i had my array installed in the fall of 2019. I have only had 1 issue which had to do with the inverters communicating with SMA. they sent a technician out to fix the problem within a few days. I am very pleased in my decision to use Solar Liberty to install my array.

From there sales person Clayton to the installation crew they were absolutely fabulous! I had a ground mount system installed. The job took them 2 days start to finish. Me and my wife were totally pleased with the job Solar Liberty did. I did my research and Solar Liberty was definitely the company that we wanted doing this installation for us.

Solar Liberty installed my solar panels in April of 2017. After they came out to measure and find if there was enough sunlight, the installation took less than a day to complete. I have had no problems over the past six years and for part of the year my electric bill is only the cost of connecting to the grid. Overall, it was an excellent experience from beginning to end.

I had my system installed 4/2023 and noticed that the system is short by 25% of my energy usage and the panels only covered 3/4 of the section roof they are on (13 panels).
I called to add 4 panels to make up the difference and they wanted to charge me 2x the cost of what I payed for the original panels.
I ask them to fill the roof when they were originally quoted and was told they couldn't do it.
Make sure they put up enough panels, doing it later is ridiculous.
They also had no interest to work with me and would not work with price even though they are selling me panels of solar panel company that went bankrupt since I bought system.
It does take 10+- years to make up cost and if you need to finance don't bother.
If I had to do again I would have looked into other options possibly wind or nothing at all.
The installers were very good and went out of their way to answer any questions I had.
Had one minor problem and the service department handled in timely manner.
Customer service is excellent.
All tax advantages worked exactly as they told me.
The monitoring application that comes with system due to bankruptcy is ending in April.
I did do this with the thought of helping environment and after it payed itself off save some money.
Not the best experience -
Thank you Solar Liberty and special thanks to Carrie, Dean, and Ryan!
I am loving the system. And it is always a beautiful day in Buffalo to generate my own clean energy. Even “snowy Buffalo” is rich in solar resources. Also thrilled to teach my children how we can contribute to a cleaner and healthier community by reducing our carbon footprint. -
Reached out to Solar Liberty and dealt with Brian K. He was prompt and extremely helpful. I would recommend Solar Liberty based on my experience with them, especially Brian.

In 2015 Solar Liberty installed 14 LG panels on our detached garage, but those panels only provided about half of our annual usage. Several years ago those LG panels began faulting, but when I contacted Solar Liberty about the issues they eventually replaced all 14 panels under warranty. When there was a delay in obtaining half of the replacement panels Solar Liberty even provided loaner panels just to maintain our production. I was so impressed with their service that we decided to increase our production to 100% by adding a second independent system of 10 panels to our home in 2023. As an electrical engineer with over 3 decades of industrial experience, I collaborated with them to ensure our design was exactly as I wanted regarding tie-ins, component locations, cable routing, etc. Adding a second independent solar array with equipment from a different manufacturer created several technical challenges, and to be honest Solar Liberty struggled to get the second monitoring system functioning properly. But in all fairness this was not their typical “cookie-cutter” residential installation. Despite those challenges I found that Solar Liberty’s quality of work, customer focus, and responsiveness to be exceptional, and I highly recommend them for residential solar installations.

Solar Liberty installed our grid-tied 5 kW system in 2011, and this year upgraded it with a backup battery and 10 additional PV panels. Their work is highly professional, their people are knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend them.

I just had a ground mounted solar electric system installed by Solar Liberty. I have to say EVERYONE I dealt with from start to finish was great. Any questions we had were all answered and the installation was fast ! The tax savings you get from installing a system like this make it very attractive for anyone who plans to stay in your house for a while. The tax money I will get back amounts to MORE THAN HALF of what I had to pay for the system. You can use that money to pay towards the system or anything you want ! Once the system is paid off , you only owe National Grid or whatever electric supplier you have A LITTLE OVER $18 A MONTH FOREVER ! Great way for us to cut our bills in retirement. Thanks Solar Liberty !

Solar Liberty is the way to go with solar. From my first phone call to my last email, they made the process so easy, all i had to do was watch them work. They did everything, plus some, from making sure the house will hold the panels, to connecting to my existing array. I would not think about any other company, and with the 5 yr labor, and 25 yr parts warranty, how can you go wrong. I have already talked to some friends, and they are looking into solar.

We got a solar panel installation from Solar Liberty after hearing about them from our neighbors, who had one of their systems. After checking out the references, we were pretty comfortable with the vendor.
After we ran the numbers by our financial planner, we are looking at a nine year ROI. Considering the 25 year warranty on the panels, it seemed like a very good deal.
Their work was super professional. A local project manager was in charge of the installation, and it went up in a couple days, even in inclement weather. Permits and inspections were done at various stages before and after the job was completed.
Overall, we are very happy with Solar Liberty, and have recommended them to several friends.
