They were scheduled to remove a tree and do some major trimming of another tree and they disappeared in the middle of the job. I paid $3,500 and they won't return emails or calls. I know they are busy because of a recent ice storm but that's no reason to neglect a paying customer.

Came out to give me an estimate 2 weeks ago, on pruning a few branches of the neighbor's walnut tree. The person that came out told me he forgot his laser pointer (ok!!!l), so of course he couldnt really pinpoint or show me what he was going to do for me. Gave me a quote for $1500 verbally and said he will send me an email of the estimate but they are pretty much booked out until January of 2021 even if i was to schedule now. The estimate was 300$ more than the other 2 companies and it was not thorough on what this company would be doing for me. Maybe the job is too small for your company that you gave me a date 4 months out, and never cared enough to give me an official estimate like you should. Honestly I did not even know what he was going to do for me. No time to even care to answer my questions. The person that came out showed no interests in doing business.
I hope the city of Portland would not have them on their recommended list since they are so horrible at customer service. The two other companies I called came out very professionally, listened and answered my questions, and used a laser pointer to show me how much they can prune, and explained the process and time length if they were to come out, and gave me an email estimate within 1 hour after they left and even a follow up email.
If initial visit was that unprofessional, I dont even want to find out about the actual work. He couldnt even bare 5 minutes.
Thanks but no thanks I will save my 'small' job for a company who actually wants to do work.

Kevin recently came out to visit my neighbor’s house to look at an older tree that hangs over my driveway. His professional advice gave me a great deal of comfort. He has also been a great resource to our clients and I look forward to being able to pass his name out to others.

A large maple fell on my house and made an incredible mess. In two days all evidence of it was gone. A crew with a large truck and a cherry picker managed to maneuver up my steep and narrow driveway. The three-man crew set up about 9:15 and worked steadily until about 4:30. They were polite, efficient and meticulous. I could not be more pleased.

Had 3 trees with different problems. The sick cedar in front yard was removed, stump so thoroughly ground out that a new tree can be planted there. Huge old maple in back threatened neighbor's house. Pruned for safety and done without cabling. 3rd tree even trickier-an old red plum which anyone would say is a candidate for removal but it's a habitat for birds. My arborist understood and thinned it out so it can die a little slower. He left plenty of stubs and cavities for habitat and the birds and I could not be happier.

As a professional gardener myself, I was very concerned on all counts. These folks really came through. 5 stars are not enough. For once, I got primo service and am thankful.

I wanted to say impressed I've been with a couple of your employees of Bartlett Tree Experts. First off, Giles Gardner came out a few months ago to look at a couple of problems I was having in my landscape regarding health of a large shore pine and some of the azalea's and rhody's. He came across as truly interested in my concerns/needs and spent some time in understanding the history of the yard. After touring the front and back he followed up with recommendations in writing. He suggested a fertilization program, a disease control regiment (3 visits) for the pine and highly recommended a day of trimming my 25 foot Hinoki Cypress trees in the backyard. I was a bit reluctant due to the expense and having always done my own landscape work. I told him I was very particular regarding my home's landscape. He assured me that the person he would schedule for the trimming would do an excellent job. He told me he shared my bonsai interests and was very detail oriented. Upon his glowing recommendation, I agreed to have all the work done.

Yesterday, I met Johnny who did the Hinoki trimming work. He actually had to climb the trees, a harrowing task in my mind! I have to tell you how impressed I was with his listening skills, personality, professionalism and attention to detail. I consider myself quite detail oriented myself but I have to say he met and exceeded all my expectations. These two representatives of Collier/Bartlett were impressive! It's rare that I find service up to my standards these days! It was indeed a pleasure to work with these two and I thought the world should know.

My yard is now looking better than ever and my small piece of tranquility is now seeing more light and more use thanks to the Bartlett/Collier team!

There Super Hero’s are at it again!!! Some of the most challenging and dangerous situations in the Portland Metro area handled with precision and caution.

My HOA uses Bartlett to manage the trees in the common areas. I called them to trim two Japanese maples on my property. When Kyle came onsite, he observed that the oldest Japanese maple was diseased and recommended treatment. There were two different Bartlett employees that performed the pruning and applied the disease treatment. Both were personable and shared their arboreal knowledge. It was obvious to me that they were invested in what they were doing and not simply going through the motions. I definitely will use them again.

The Bartlett crew removed a large Norway Maple for me. Challenging job with power line running through tree and busy street adjacent. Andrew and his crew got it done in one day without any issues! Thanks for a job well done!

Crew came on time and worked very efficiently to transplant a dwarf maple tree in my yards and some shrubs. They also pruned a large maple to clear a driveway overhang.
Very happy with their work on a cold and rainy day. Gave me good tips on keeping the transplanted maple thriving.

My wife and I recently moved into a new home surrounded by trees and I had some concerns about some of those trees... Until Phil stopped by. He arrived several minutes early and carefully explained why I should not be worried about the trees in question and also gave me some tailored advice about the English Ivy growing out back. It became apparent immediately that he loves his job. Also, I appreciated his minimalist approach as well his straightforwardness. Without hesitation, I would recommend Bartlett to anyone with potential tree issues.

Chase and Jessy were great, removed a 50ft cedar and ground out the stump in about 4.5 hours. Surgically dissected the tree avoiding a phone line running through it so it would have to be disconnected. Treated my son great by posing for a photo on the stump.
Drew was also professional locating the problem beetle and checked during the cutting. I'd recommend them all.

Bartlett removed my tree in February 2021 and they did a good job taking the tree down and the debris away. However they came back four months later this past May to remove the stump. No call to tell me they were coming, no explanation of what was going to be done, and no Communication of how much would be left behind or if I wanted to have it taken away. I drove up to a 5 foot long 2 feet high debris of mulch on my planter strip next to a city street!

I was shocked! Assuming Taking away this debris would be part of the service involved along with the tree removal. It is only logical to expect this let alone the shock of having so much dirt left behind. I called four times in two weeks and I never got a call back except for when I threatened a bad review and nonpayment. Five minutes later I got a call with a lame excuse telling me from “Lyle“ that they had had trouble returning customers phone calls ever since the storm… A storm from four months ago? How in the world does a storm from four months ago keep a person from calling back a customer four times inside of two weeks!… he also told me that he had called me but he did not. There was absolutely no record on my phone of any call. None!!

Lyle told me that most people want debris left over. I told him that I lived in a city and debris was left on a planter strip next to a street with nowhere to put it! They failed to tell me how much was going to be left behind or even give me the option of having it taken away. They just left it there… I also told him that most people would assume this would be taken away And would not expect mulch to this degree to be left behind. That along with multiple phone calls and no return knowing full well they had a very unhappy customer was beyond explanation and excuse!....Unacceptable!

This company completely failed in it’s responsibility towards its customer professionally and personally! No company should just assume that people want mulch left behind especially on a city block where there is no where to put it. And not to mention giving them the opportunity to have it taken away instead of just assuming and leaving it behind. How they cannot return phone calls multiple times is the height of unprofessionalism and I cannot recommend this company to other people. I will now have to pay someone else to take this away and I can no longer put my trust in him or this company. Let’s hope they don’t send me a bill for not cleaning up a job they did not finish. I will not be paying it!

I loved the job Bartlett Tree service did on my Apple and oak tree.
I also had them do work at my mothers . Both jobs were done so well. I plan to hire them in the future for all my tree needs.

I have done business with Colliers Arbor Care for many years. A few years ago, they became a part of Bartlett Tree Experts. I have trusted them with my tree work and pest control. Their arborist tree care advise has always been top notch. Their pesticide applications have always been done with care and have been very efficient and effective. I recently had a difficult tree removal task for them. Weather caused a few delays in getting the work scheduled and the job ended up being more challenging than originally thought. Ultimately, they did great work that I've always experienced and they stood by their original bid.

Be sure to check the invoices and your bank records. There were multiple errors over the course of my experience with Bartlett and had I not paid attention, I would have overpaid. Overall the job was done well and the pruning and tree work professional. However, in our case, our large Oregon White Oak was pruned, cabled, we had a root invigoration (we took all recommendations from our arborist and spent $6k for that work), and then a huge limb dropped on our shared property several months later, shattering a fence and shed. Removing that branch cost us another $3k. After the limb dropped, our risk tolerance changed, and we ended up removing the tree, using a different company for reasons of cost. Bartlett's quote was double the other company's. We learned later that a neutral plane fracture had been observed in the earlier work before the branch fell, and it felt somewhat negligent to me that that information was known but nothing done. We really wanted to keep and maintain this tree, but the cost was overwhelming, especially learning that we'd need to spend about $3k each year in additional pruning and care.
