I was given Dan's name by a heat and air company that I was trying to get a bid from for my new house. He had been researching blow in insulation for his house and had narrowed it down to two companies. I contacted both of these insulation companies and Dan not only responded the quicker but kept in touch with me each time I checked in with him on an update with my progress. They were there to do the work when Dan said they would be and cleaned up after themselves when they were finished. Nice job guys. Thanks so much.
Affordable removed our wet moldy batten insulation with a big vacuum, very efficient. However we later noticed that the bug screens over the crawl space vents were knocked out of place so we couldn’t close the vents without going down into the crawl space and fixing them. A minor problem, Would have been 5 stars otherwise
My daughter had a large upstairs room that was difficult to keep warm and she had to resort to using multiple space heaters to supplement the furnace heat. I contacted Affordable Insulation for help and Chris came out to take thermal images and visually inspect the attic and walls. Lo and behold he found some sections of the attic and a few outside walls had NO insulation, even though the house was only 15 years old. Clearly the original (and reputable) builder was at fault. He sent his crew in, McCoy and Andrew, to blow cellulose insulation into those areas and add more to the adjacent areas so that the house now has an R-60 layer of insulation in the attic. They also dense packed the walls where there was missing insulation. Thankfully, that room is now one of the warmest areas of the house, and no more space heaters! After seeing what Affordable Insulation could do, I asked Chris to also look at my 10 year old house because the original fiberglass insulation in the attic had settled and I suspected lost some of its R value. I thought it was a good idea to top it off, or vacuum out the old fiberglass insulation and replace it with the better cellulose insulation. After Chris inspected the attic, he recommended that we remove the fiberglass insulation completely and spray foam the underside of the roof instead, gaining the advantage of sealing the attic space for any potential air leaks. His crew vacuumed out all the old insulation and we now have one of the cleanest attics in the neighborhood. They then worked for 1-1/2 days spray foaming the underside of the roof, giving us plenty of usable space for attic storage that we didn’t have before. Since then we’ve noticed a very significant improvement in the comfort of our house, so much so that we had to turn down the thermostat by 3 degrees because the house was plenty warm (the outside temperature has been averaging 30+ degrees). The final result was a HUGE success and much more than we anticipated! I also had Chris and his crew add insulation inside the walls of a workshop built onto the backside of the house. The walls had no insulation because it was originally built to be for storage use, but had since been converted into a wood working space. I had to rely on using multiple space heaters all day to warm it in the winter, but the temperature in the room would fall back to the outdoor temperature within 2 hours of shutting down the space heaters. Once again, McCoy and Andrew dense packed the walls with cellulose and foam sealed the areas around the rim joists. Amazing! The workshop now holds any heat I put into it and the temperature only drops a few degrees after not using the space heaters for many hours! Chris and all his crew were wonderful to work with, very friendly and professional, knowledgable about their work, and were meticulous at cleaning their work areas after they were finished. Their communications with me were timely and effective, and the office staff was also great. Affordable Insulation is by far the best insulation company in Oklahoma, in both their products and service. I will never call another insulation company because I found the best. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND them!!
