DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. UNPROFESSIONAL, NO COMMUNICATION, LACK REPAIR KNOWLEDGE. 3 repair attempts this winter to fix our furnace and still not resolved. Every time it failed again it would take them days to come back out and tech would be here for only a few minutes, then leave again. They do not return calls or text messages. I gave them an honest review through our Home Warranty (1 star) and they retaliated against us and cancelled our next appointment with less than 24 hours notice, right before the weekend. Did you really expect me to give you a good rating with AHS after 3 failed repair attempts and lack of communication? It was an honest review and sometimes honesty hurts. Own it and step up and do the right thing. I asked you to please not cancel our appointment because we both know now we won't get serviced by someone else until next week. You did in on purpose to a young family with a pregnant wife in freezing temps. All you had to do was own up and fix your mistakes. If the furnace was misdiagnosed and is a repeat repair, you come back ASAP. You don't make people wait as long as you do and you stay in communication. It's not that hard.

Prompt, courteous and professional service by everyone. Todd was extremely helpful, honest and true to his word. Fantastic experience. Nobody likes buying a new air conditioner but if you have to, call Cool Operator for the best price, service and experience possible.

Today was our scheduled maintenance from Cool Operator. We moved here from out of state two years ago and didn't have knowledge of any heating & air conditioning companies. We are so thankful for Kathy, Todd & Chris. They are incredible honest and trustworthy people. Not only do they each have those attributes; they are knowledgeable and just a pleasant group to work with. I encourage everyone to check them out. You won't be disappointed!

I was really impressed that my appointment to replace my air conditioning unit was able to be scheduled the following morning after I arrived home from being out of town. I was stressed about my animals who were traveling with me being in the heat after we all arrived home. There were no worries because they were able to get it ordered and installed when I needed it. The technicians were quick, friendly and respectful of my property.

I have used Cool Operator for service, new furnace, and now a new A/C. I go back to them because the service they provide is top tier! Kathy is friendly and wonderfully helpful getting appointments set up, Chris and Joel were friendly, straightforward, and honest, and Todd was friendly and did a great install. This is a family business and treat their customers as such. I highly recommend Cool Operator and will use them for my future HVAC needs!

This company is the the perfect example of a small family owned business. Kathy was amazing with everything with our home warranty company. She really went above and beyond. Chris our tech was also as great as Kathy. Very professional and just represents their company how people should! Would highly recommend!!

Don’t hesitate to reach out to them! I absolutely love this family operated business! I have utilized Cool Operator for almost 15 years!! Todd and Kathy are the wonderful! Todd and Chris have always provided exceptional service for all HVAC needs!! The ability to get a new, high quantity furnace installed so quickly and at an extremely competitive price was greatly appreciated! Our new furnace is so quiet and efficient we almost don’t even know when it’s on! Thanks again!!

I fervently recommend staying away from this family owned business. The owner (Kathy) is extremely inflexible in her customer approach. She will go so far as to levy vitriolic ad hominems, eschew responsibility, and become unresponsive if, despite being the service provider, she deems her clients uncooperative or unhelpful.
Summary of events:
AHS warranty order. In my past (2) experiences having my AC repaired, the vendors promptly identified the issue outside, and fixed it. Cool Operator seems to have an undisclosed policy that they need to run a full diagnostic in/externally. At the time of the agent's arrival (Chris) advised me he needed access inside - I informed him I would need roughly 15 minutes to have my disabled veteran wife, my child, and a small ac-induced mess (multiple fans and bedding to alleviate the heat) move from the ground floor to the upper floor. Chris was cordial and understanding, advising his outside diagnosis would take 45 minutes to repair (capacitor and fan blade motor) regardless. Chris also advised me I would need to put in a new work order for the internal compenents and waive any damage that may occurr after the external repairs as Cool Operator wouldn't be held responsible for damages originating internally for repairs it couldn't access, to which I understood and accepted. It was at that time Chris received a call and asked if he should proceed on the work order, to which Kathy advised him not to. It was at that time Chris advised me to reschedule or reassign through AHS, which is present in writing on the work-order he handed me. I complied and proceeded to do as recommended.
I received at that point, a direct message from what I believed to be their automated line, a message of disbelief that had multiple spelling errors. Quote: "Seriously!!! Il let AHS know your sleeping." - direct message copy/paste. I was severely confused as unto that point, it was 2 automated messages. I tried to rectify any miscommunication between AHS and Cool Op that may have occurred, but my primary objective at that point was remedying my AC issue.
I was informed, day of and 5 days later (holiday weekend) that the Vendor declared the work order done and they themselves refused to send another agent out despite Chris' work-order notation. As well, when I was finally able to contact Kathy, she stated, paraphrasing: I don't know what AHS wants from us, we put client doesn't want service despite it being one of the hottest times of the month...I can't believe people like you exist...AHS' automated robot and outsourced operators are just about as smart as you...I'm not sending anyone out to you again, you wasted our time" - this is despite the fact that AHS and by proxy - myself - had already paid the service charge. By the very concept of servicing, I did not "waste their time" when they have been paid for their time.
All of this is simply due to not being allowed 15 minutes to follow a procedure that until this point, I was not advised of, nor had experienced myself. This inflexible, stringent, and otherwise arrogant approach to business, coupled with Kathy's inexorably poor customer service (which is present in other reviews) and blatant disdain for me as a customer culminates in me closing this review with my initial opinion: I would not recommend any would-be customer, especially through AHS, select this vendor or their taciturn service.
Note: this review does not reflect on the individual employees of Cool Op Inc as I only had access to (2) members: the owner (Kathy), and an agent (Chris) of which the latter was cordial and responsive, but the former was curt and abrasive.
Thank you.

This company was sent by American Home Warranty to look at our air handler as the AC went out on the second floor last week. I was told they couldn't look at the unit because it was in the attic and they don't do attics -- only crawlspaces. This is after I was asked if there were pull down stairs to the attic. When I said no, you need to use a ladder, they stepped outside to call their office. So now I'm looking at the weekend with temps in the 90+ degree range and no AC repair because this company doesn't "do attics". Make sure before you call your handler is NOT in the attic. I looked over their website and NOWHERE does it state they do not do work for handlers installed in the attic. I rearranged my entire day to be home because it was today or next week -- all for nothing. Why wouldn't they clarify FIRST where the air handler is before accepting a job or call if this is truly a "no" for them? OH and then listed labor at 1 hour at $75.00 on the form but didn't ask for payment, thankfully. What a joke.

Cool Operator came to my home, on June 16th to check my AC. I called back the same day to let them know my AC is not fixed and turned to ice because I ran it over 24 hours as Kathy suggested. Today it is still not fixed, yet Kathy will not respond to my voicemails and is telling AHS they are waiting for me, which is untrue. I have been waiting since June 21st for them to come back. Not good customer service!!

Todd from Cool Operator Heating & Cooling Inc. came out to diagnose our furnace issue from AHS . He took the time to properly identify the problem and fixed it by replacing a part. I really appreciated that Todd focused on repairing the furnace instead of immediately suggesting a replacement just because of its age. Very satisfied with the service!

Love Harmonic! They are very professional and have great customer service.
-
Probably one of the most knowledgeable and ethical companies I know. When it comes to what is right for your home and the latest and most efficient technology which saves you money in the long run, you cannot do any better. Great people to do business with.
-
A well-earned five stars! Kenny's knowledge was eclipsed only by his friendly personality. I would definitely call them again!
-
Nate from Harmonic serviced my furnace right before the big January deep freeze. He even returned the next day with the right filter I needed for my furnace to run properly. Excellent customer service skills from everyone at the company, including Liz who booked the appointment.

Have been a customer of Harmonic for several years now. We have had them service our furnace as well as install new Central Air. Our unit never worked so well until they applied their magic. They have very knowledgeable people that can explain things about the service they perform. Our Thanks to Harmonic! They're the Best!

Working with Harmonic for our new furnace and ac package was great from start to finish. From the estimate and sales to the installation and paying for the work, Harmonic was professional and communicated very well. I would recommend Harmonic to anyone needing heating and air conditioning work in the Chicago land area. They are top notch!

Great people great service reasonable prices I would recommend to a 100% of my friends

Pete, thank you for everything you did with our AC system! You and your team did a fantastic job and the AC is purring like a kitten!

I had the pleasure to talk to Pete, owner of Proactive. After explaining my furnace issue and thinking I need to replace it after 18 years and being the middle of winter, Pete suggested trying to troubleshoot the problem over the phone. It came down to the pressure switch was not functioning as it should. After checking the hose between switch and the draft inducer motor water droplets were found. This was enough to disrupt the pressure switch functionality. Once cleaned out furnace has been working flawlessly. Pete was on the phone with me about 20 minutes. A service call would have cost hundreds of dollars. Pete is passionate about HVAC and has no problem helping people out even though he could be making money with a service call. At some point this year I will consider replacing my furnace and will be using Pro Active knowing they'll be fair and most of all know what they are doing. I also know they won't try to sell me something I don't need.
